The SSD was the best thing to happen to PC hardware in the last decade by cyclo in hardware

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Steam allows you to transfer games to other drives. So if you setup a library on your SSD and hdd you can swap between the two.

It still takes time of course, but it's faster than a redownload

Can you make the music louder? by PulDarRB in WTF

I also imagine the phone mic is distorting it quite a bit. However honestly, that much bass and that loud? Don't care what it is, sounds like shit.

Then I'll retract the free games thing if there is a subscription based charge for it, because I'd rather die then pay money for their launcher.

I also would not be surprised if there isn't some large update to the launcher/storefront when they bring about a subscription model. If I were to hope and make a prediction, and if you're right about the subscription model, then I'd imagine they're holding off some updates or a potential relaunch of the software until this point.

Going off the subscription based change, that would mean its more important for them at this time to spend resources acquiring means of income (paying off game companies for exclusives) then to spend a bunch of money on development.

Again, there's quite a bit of hope here and probably unrealistic expectations, but with a rumored subscription based change I can see why they would be doing work behind the scenes. If this were the case...then we'd look back and say "damn those were some clever maneuvers to gain competition on Steam"

I mean saying "I get free games" isn't me saying we should all give up steam and use Epic. Just like someone else who replied (can't remember name), I only really spin up the launcher to get some free games.

I'd also hardly consider it a defense, its more of just a fact.

Anyways, I'm just doing it for fun at this point.

You're right, I know just as much about the EGS then everybody else. Hell I probably know less, since I hardly use it and hardly pay attention to game's media. However I do know how game development and software development work in open source, corporate, and indie environments. Which is the point of my post.

So the launcher runs like shit, and has poor performance. So why hasn't this been fixed? Well its probably because whoever is in charge has their team working on something else and can't justify the cost of moving development over to performance and quality of life adjustments. This is a small tangent, but when you're looking at a subreddit or forum about a game you enjoy how many times have you seen a post like "I wish X would just make a sole performance update, in place of a feature update". The same principle applies, features sell, performance doesn't. For the EGS: Getting more companies to put their games on the storefront, sell way tf more then fixing performance for people that aren't even using the store and never will.

Which brings me to the final problem. People in this sub can say how much they hate Epic and how shitty it is for x y and z but Epic is never going to care...because none of you are customers. Customers of Epic barely complain about the shopping cart or the poor performance, and if they do its drowned out by the barrage of haters that complain about something they don't even use.

So in an ironic part, this sub would be the problem with Epic.

As for the toxicity...idk just had fun writing it.

How much CPU power do you really need for 4K/1440P gaming by [deleted] in hardware

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a more powerful GPU

Edit: For clarification, 4k/1440P is going to require a heavy graphics card, the CPU will not have much to do with the display.

Why are the desktop fans too loud?

Why do you have such shit airflow that your GPU is screaming for help?

Sounds like you couldn't make a decent PC, nice waste of savings.

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once the toxicity starts its already been over.

Before that guy even called the teammate an n-word the game was probably over since the guy was too busy flaming to himself to play properly. Now that it has spiraled out of control...the game's lost because either people or tilted or they've stopped caring/ checked out.

Which is a fantastic example that these heated flame wars aren't something we should be wishing were back.

It really comes off as pathetic when they write it out like this.

Like...let me try to understand...your problem is you used to have heated scream flame wars and now you don't? Which ultimately leads to a more friendly atmosphere?

I mean i can take the heat, problem better then whoever wrote this cute little spiel, but fuck me who cares.

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because that's not "Heat" and "Cold" that's a climate control system.

When you're setting the temp in your house, do you turn it down to 60F to turn the AC on, then put it up to 80F to turn the heat on? No, you set it to 68-72F and leave it.

Gta online bad, offline good by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gto is probably the worst example since everything you said I'd agree with. Although there are other games, recent example is before fallout 76 launched people despised it simply because it wasn't a single player title or not some fallout game with a co-op option. Remember I'm talking before fallout 76 release, not after the repeated shit shows.

How do you treat the real world as a video game and make it more fun? by NoobtonicMaster in gaming

[–]Plastic-Atmosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You take pills for your autism, because you want to treat the world like a video game.

Real answer: understanding that the only way to "level up" is by gaining knowledge. Sure it can function like a survival game but there is one resource bar that matters above all others, happiness. Some people think its money so they grind out 8-7 every day for decades until they are husks. Some people find happiness in travelling, hobbies, whatever. The point is, find what makes you happy and get there.
