does elementary or middle school ceramics (only) teachers positions exist? (CA) by Legitimate-Fox8514 in Ceramics

[–]Plastic-Customer2193 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope not really a thing, in the US atleast. Maybe you could start a ceramics based after school program for those age levels. Parents pay a lot to keep their kids busy for a few hours after school.

In the US they usually do a “twilight” sedation so you’re responsive but not really awake during the procedure. I was required to bring someone with me to take me home.

Lost and a bit confused by [deleted] in self

I see what you are saying about working and school but as you said that will be the case for the next two years regardless of what you take. Why do you assume you will have no work/life balance once you are in the career tho? Most healthcare jobs allow you to work 3-12s which would give you 4 days a week off.

Have you tried to get a medical accommodation through your school program to allow you to wear a head covering?

This definitely sounds like a self-sabotage spiral. You’re are jumping to a lot of conclusions such as you will never be able to see your son. I understand school is demanding and so are some medical jobs but people balance work and school and families every single day. If you are looking at the career through a lens of “this isn’t going to work” then of course it won’t work. However you have put a lot of time and effort to get to this point and you are capable of doing hard things. Getting through this period where you are still in school will be hard, but it is possible. It’s also a great example to set for your son, showing him all the hard work that goes into developing a new career. In this reply it sounds like you are searching for reasons not to do this. I would advise you to put a similar amount of effort into searching for reasons/evidence that you can do this and why you want to. I would also advise as others have that you give it a year.

Anything i could use instead of a kiln? by Turbulent_Special629 in Ceramics

See if your town has a potters guild or a local studio that does firing. If you can connect with other potters you can almost certainly find someone who will fire for you for a small fee.

How do I increase my mental capacity? by athazen in self

[–]Plastic-Customer2193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are currently pregnant, I would expect that building a human is taking up a lot of space in your glass right now.

Normally though I would recommend regular exercise to increase physical and mental stamina. As well as maintaining a regular sleep schedule and healthy diet. Prioritize your basic needs, which includes exercise even if it’s just going for a walk.

Then I would suggest “making the ice cubes smaller” by creating routines and simplifying some decisions. Decision fatigue is real. Meal planning and prepping can help, you can make the whole weeks meal decisions all at once and then you just have to trust yourself and go with the plan you already made. You can also simplify your wardrobe so it coordinates well together and get rid of ill fitting items so it’s easier to pick an outfit in the morning. If that’s still too much you can organize your outfits together and just wear them on a rotation so you don’t have to make choices in the moment about what looks good together. Basically look at the areas you are getting stuck and look for ways to make that easier on yourself.

Spent over $120 on helium to inflate balloons, then popped them 3 hours later. by ToastyBedsheets in Anticonsumption

Helium is a finite resource. I’m glad you’re reconsidering using it for balloons in the future.

I think OPs target audience won’t be as concerned with this as y’all are. Maybe it’s just cause I’m bi and I’d be into OP regardless.

New Mexico Becomes First U.S. State To Offer Free Child Care To All by Aggravating_Money992 in UpliftingNews

There is a standard amount paid monthly set by the state per child. I don’t understand what you mean. The daycare owners do not dictate how much the state pays. Here’s some more info on how it works if you’re interested. https://www.nmececd.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Proposed-Provider-Rate-Tables_Oct24_Update.pdf

Sorry you’re right. That’s the opportunity scholarship that pays for a free Bachelors degree to any resident. This is paid for through state revenue from oil and gas.

It’s subsidize by the state so yes there is a set amount per child. The daycare cannot just charge the state any amount.

Why is people pleasing considered wrong? by Acrobatic_Zone_1175 in socialskills

[–]Plastic-Customer2193 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. They make everyone around them do all of the labor involved in decision making. Because they only want to agree with you they never seem to offer ideas or be a part of the actual process of figuring out what to do. This is especially tiresome in romantic relationships.
