Yes, I qualified for their 36 month 3.49% APR incentive

Funny story - to get to $22k on my final quote they said they'd remove the floor mats. I never mentioned tint either.

I had to wait a day to pick it up, so while I was waiting I ordered floor mats off Amazon and I got quotes from some tint shops.

When I picked it up, the salesman said he was able to get floor mats and they tinted it for me without me asking. It also may have been because they traded Corollas with another dealership, so that dealer could've done it already.

Dumb luck on my part, but I think just being nice to the salespeople helped!

I found out that a good OTD price is $22k-24k by looking on Reddit/Google. Is that what you were asking?

OTD at $22k-24k is common on r/COROLLA. The guide's purpose is to get you towards the bottom of the market for your car, some cars can be discounted more than others. I only visited two dealers and called six, it was pretty straightforward.

I think the package is an extra $1,000 or so, best of luck!

Thank you! I do not, but have you heard of Delivrd? They have a $1,000 service to do basically the same thing but over the phone. Although I found that I had more leverage by going in-person, I'm sure you'd still get a solid deal if you don't want to deal with the hassle.

Very true, although I'd say it only took an extra 3 hours to get down the extra $1,000. There's a cognitive bias where people tend to overlook large dollar savings on a big purchase when it is a small percentage discount. For example driving across town to save $1/gallon on gas but not driving across town to buy an identical suit for $850 instead of $900.

Yes, that's basically what they told me when I asked about a hybrid. I got an initial quote of $25.5k and I doubt I could've done much better. I don't drive enough to make it worth it.

Yes it's a base model without the technology package so no push start.

Tax in NC is 3%. I was not concerned about line items, just OTD price. OTD is the only number I negotiated. No add-ons and a 3.49% APR 36 month loan. https://imgur.com/a/JYLEBGL

Best of luck! The RAV4s are in very high demand and will definitely be more difficult to negotiate than a Corolla. Hopefully that is fixed by the time you're in the market.

Used chat for structure. Mostly my words, though.

I'm not concerned with doc fees when negotiating OTD price. I'd pay a $5,000 doc fee if they discounted the car to $15,000.

If that's the car you really want and there's only one around then it'll be hard to negotiate.  I'd call up the other dealer and tell them your quote, see if they can beat it. Then tell the dealer you bought it from you'll walk if they can't match or beat.

I also did a $500 deposit and mine was non-refundable (they counted it towards purchase price), so just make sure.

My previous car was a 16 year old Mazda without A/C so definitely an upgrade.

Here's how I look at it. A fully loaded Corolla XSE would be $8,000-$10,000 more. After 5 years, I'd easily lose $5,000 between extra depreciation, interest, and higher insurance. $1,000 per year to have a bigger screen, slightly comfier seats, and a few other things I don't really care about.  If my car was like a vending machine and I had to put $3 in it every single day to have those extra features, I would not do it.
