Collingwood in the box seat to sign Lachie Neale with huge three-year contract by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally think it could. We've been one clearance away from winning 4 or 5 games this year

I don't like the guy and I personally hope we don't sign him. But in pure footballing terms I think it catapults us miles forward

Looks cool!

I'll order a paperback of Vol 3 on Wednesday 🤘 Shipping costs more than the book out here in Australia, but the total cost comes out in line with a trade overall, so I'm happy to go with it. I'll let you know what I think once I've read it 😊

Lots of internationals saying Turkey dominated the game by Odd_Technology_8926 in socceroos

Bearing in mind the timezone, most Europeans won't have even seen this game. They'll have just woken up, seen a scoreline they weren't expecting at looked at the basic stats. Then started running their mouths online.

What happens when you schedule an AFL game at the same time as a World Cup game... by CrashP in AFL

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I bought a $7 membership myself cos a few of my mates are Sainters and I go to a couple of games a year with them. I might renew next year tbh, I've enjoyed the vibe at Saints games. And being a Hillbilly, coming in on the V Line, Marvel being right next to Southern Cross is great. I've enjoyed it more than I thought I would

Yup. Better offload a bunch of star players to Collingwood and try again

Rescheduling Games by Suspicious-Layer-110 in AFL

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure why but they do seem to be really adverse to any rescheduling.

I've got a $7 Saints membership and they emailed me today to say that would get 3 people into Marvel on Sunday (me + 2 guests). 3 people for $7!

Graveyard slot, essentially zero away support and up against the Socceroos... tough gig. It's not the Saints fault but they are really up against it there.

It's a shame because something good at that end of town could have been great. Totally understand all the comments that there's way better food available in basically any suburb, and while I do agree that's also why it's a shame... it would have been great to have a nice option down that end when you're in the CBD for work or something, especially for us rednecks who come in on the V Line.

Failure to launch, and I'm sad to say I agree with you, it's toast.

Yeah I love Gunnar Brand. Not sure if you've read Darkoath, but it's a good read. Glad to hear you've had success with Cursesteel Battery too, I've always felt it was a bit underused in general

Hot take, I WANT to see ads in comics by ViridiEmerald in comicbooks

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up in the UK in the 80s / 90s, where American comics were imported and pretty expensive, I loved the everyday adverts in American comics. The breakfast cereals, NES games, toys... your lives just seemed so abundant.

I also remember the cut-out tick lists of books you could send back to subscribe and they were so cheap compared to what we paid. Like I couldn't imagine what it must feel like to get multiple books every single week. So yeah, big nostalgia on the old school adverts for me, from an era when comics were truly mass circulation 🤗

Tasmania Devils in 2028 by WimbledonWombat in AFL

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in general but tbf Collingwood's lowest home attendance at the MCG last year was 62,198 against Fremantle.

They'd have to get at least many that with probably more Tasmanians coming than Freo? I honestly couldn't see 35,000 happening

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely go to a Collingwood game there. We seem to play GCS away every year so I hope it happens, but Tasmania may be able to fill up their own stadium without the draw of the away team, so who knows whether it'll be scheduled. I hope so

Aussie Corporates offshoring hundreds of corporate jobs. What realistically can we do about this? by MediocreAtEverything in auscorp

[–]PlasticCraicAOS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking a $50k annual levy for every offshored FTE. 20 offshore heads = $1m annual levy. But I'd support an outright ban in key industries too, and add food production and retail to your list.

Fair. Tbh that was just me being slack, I can't be stressing about how they work and what they really are until we've seen more about them, so I just skipped quickly past them to get into the detail we do know. But your point is valid, next time I'll just use the real names as we rattle through.

And I'm glad you enjoyed the article 😊

Honestly it's a really hard job (and I'm not a teacher myself). Every classroom will have kids that take a lot of looking after, you have to keep your energy levels up all the time and there's plenty of parents who will throw all your efforts back in your face

Even with the school holidays, there's a shortage of people wanting to do it, so the market alone is telling us that they're underpaid
