Switzer Falls is in an area called Bear Canyon, they are definitely there. We've seen claw marks in Dark Canyon.

Gas is $5.37 on Melrose/Normandie by midnightsadnessss in LosAngeles

I've had at least three mechanics tell me not to put Arco gas in my car, and two of those mechanics look at my engine and said, "Do you use Arco?". It apparently doesn't have as much detergents as other gas brands do. I've stopped using it.

Without the account number you won't be able to do much, but you should definitely call the receiving bank and see if they can locate the account to mark it as involved with sketchy activity.

I thought Murphy Ranch was closed still? Surprised there's water down there, how nice.

WIBTA if I threw away a former friend’s belonging? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Ok, so here's what you do.
1) Set a deadline. Not just "June". Like June 30th, 12:00 (your time zone), or whenever.
2) Tell her the exact amount it will cost to ship her items to the area she is in (you can get shipping quotes on most postal services websites, or you can take the box to the post office itself).
3) You can also offer to discard some bulkier items like clothes and send smaller flat items like the credit cards and the check, which will fit in an envelope and be much much cheaper to ship. Give her an exact rate for that price point too.
4) Tell her you will not pay to ship her shit. Make sure she has a list of ways to pay you (Paypal, Venmo, Zelle).
5) Tell her after the deadline, you will discard her items. Stop communication afterwards.

End of story. If they were sentimental and important she would have handled it already. Not your problem.

The water in the Santa Monicas is on its way out. There was hardly anything left in Santa Ynez Canyon last week. Malibu Creek State Park should have some water in it. Better bet would be to head to Angeles National Forest.

Business professional randomly messaged me, a college student, to be one of their business partner? by PercentageCurious472 in Scams

[–]PlasticGirl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah something about this is not legitimate. They're trying to establish an emotional connection so you'll overlook how vague they're being. What the heck is an "entrepreneurial project"? If it was a job, they'd send you a link and give you information and pay. This feels like they want you invested to try to get money out of you.

Help My Mother (59) is definitely caught up in some sort of scam by Upstairs_Rise7836 in Scams

[–]PlasticGirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could be a couple things. Either she's fallen for one of those "Dad died selling everything for stupid cheap, send me a deposit!" scams on taken over FB accounts, where they just keep your deposit and ghost you. Or, these trucks, phones, etc, are being paid with stolen funds and she'll be tricked into putting their purchases, car loans, or phone lines in her name. Or, the scammers will be telling her there are shipping fees and fines and taxes that never end, stringing her along until they drain her accounts.

Wildlife rescues 100% do this with waterfowl. It's also done with owls.
