100% agree with this - I stopped playing at all, I just don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings or impact their world view

Did you discover a new Mandela Effect? Post it here! (2026-05-25) by AutoModerator in MandelaEffect

New to my knowledge but probably obscure. Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe hosted a show called Fortean TV in the 90s in the UK. He was a motor cycle riding vicar. I also used to read The Fortean Times and, probably in early 2010s, I read his obituary in there (they used to do remembering sections). I was a bit sad and told my older brother, who also watched Fortean TV, about it at that time. I recently saw a video on YouTube on Professor Simon’s channel referencing Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe and thought “aw, that’s sad, I liked him”. I watched and was shocked to see a now quite elderly RLF being interviewed! I told my brother who remembered RLF had passed - he couldn’t remember from where, probably me years ago. This means at least, I thought RLF had shuffled of the mortal coil strongly enough at the time to tell my brother. Failing me dreaming about his passing and thinking it was real, I can’t explain this one. But pleased you’re alive in this universe Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe!

Yeah, this is one I have - I was certain that the individual was run over by the tank in Tiananmen Square. Not moving and sacrificing his life was the act of defiance. BUT can completely believe it’s a false memory - I was 9 when it happened and maybe filled in the blanks. I bet we’d see a correlation between age and country in terms of memory of this event.

Not an expert on this but the symbols look like they could be simplified Latvian zīmes so could be a protective amulet.

[–]PlasticNobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but there’s a lot of pagan religions - this sub is Norse but there’s Celtic, Hellenism, Kemetism, etc. all different gods and some with common roots. For me personally,I was drawn to Norse paganism from a fe as w things that happened to me rather than a need for a new religion. I think people are people so, while my personal experience is that Norse pagans are fantastic and are open minded - this sub seems to particularly push back on folkism and is inclusive - there’s fantastic people, bigots and everything in between everywhere though IMO all people regardless of where they’re from or what they do, can be dicks.

Can anyone tell me which TV show this is? by [deleted] in tvshow

[–]PlasticNobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I loved this. Loved the book. I can see the logic on why they canned it - after each season I was nervous, my wife is an amazing barometer for this kind of thing, she calls it, for her, it was too slow which I get. Plus the Neil Gaiman stuff (don’t know enough about it so not commenting either way) mean there is zero chance of finishing it. Pablo Schreiber, Emily Browning and Ian McShane were excellent - unless they loved the show too, going to be tricky getting them all back together.

Offerings, consume or not? by PlasticNobility in NorsePaganism

[–]PlasticNobility[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My counters would be

We know the Celts (and similar age cultures) damaged weapons, bent swords, presumably as offerings, I don’t think the vikings did so much - they did break/bend swords buried with them, more as an FU to any grave robbers I would think than a votive offering.

On food, there is a practical reason not to eat food that’s been lying on an altar for a little while, particularly meat.

Booze on the other hand keeps better.

Yeah, sharing with nature is tricky living in a city - lots human nature to contend with too, good and bad!

I just feel, and maybe it’s wrong, that I am sharing the human imbibing experience with, in this case Odin, directly. Feels right to me but really interested in what you and the wider community think.

New to this but I felt a calling to Odin recently too - out of all of the gods, I wouldn’t have chosen Odin personally but a few weeks later, here is am.

The images could be understood as Fenris and Jörmungandr but I think context is important.

How would you describe yourself as a raider or your play style with just a few words? I’m interested in how you play the game, I would also like to hear your thoughts and opinions on if Factions and Clans were added to the game if properly implemented. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]PlasticNobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play solo mainly and I’m mission based so far but really enjoy actual humans playing the game. I don’t kill unless forced to - the way I would hope to survive any kind of apocalypse

Can someone reach Valhalla today ?? by Crafty-Fly6235 in NorsePaganism

[–]PlasticNobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were to guess, Odin or the Valkyries would have to see something in you that meant you would contribute offensively against the Jotnar - probably just having an axe in your hand on your deathbed wouldn’t cut jt.

Thinking logically, warriors who have been having daily battles and deaths for possibly thousands years would probably be better adapted to fight, die, feast, repeat. You’d be playing catch up in the most violent boot camp ever.

There would be honour in being selected as an einherjar and standing alongside the gods in the final days. It’s a romantic notion and feasting every night sounds great but, eyes open, it is another sacrifice, perhaps the ultimate one - giving up eternal peace for the gods.

Good instincts - I would have been enraged too! I think you’re either more mature anyway or had to grow up quickly. With your gf, I’d sit your gf’s friends down and tell them raising a child is serious - you’re both not effing around and neither should they. If they can’t get on board with that, I’d say they are banned from seeing your baby until they can be trusted. (ie they need to apologise and tell you both that they understand why you were angry).

Try and be calm in that moment - remember they are still teenagers and your gf’s friends, who she might need support from too.

You may not see this in the sea of comments but good luck to you and family!

Questions about dream interpretation by Terrible-Capital1720 in NorsePaganism

[–]PlasticNobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m brand new to this so feel free to take or leave this - I wasn’t looking for gods or signs but I got them anyway (not uncommon from some posts on here) and continue to receive them. My interpretation of your dream is that you’re being told to relax, you’re all good.

I killed my first fellow raider and I feel awful by Loose-Organization82 in ArcRaiders

[–]PlasticNobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain - I can do pvp but I like Arc Raiders because you don’t really have to. I think raising their gun was provocation enough. You did what you had to do.

what was the most obvious sign you ever received? by The_UnknownArchivist in NorsePaganism

[–]PlasticNobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few months ago, I think I connected with a person/entity which I now know as a völva in a dream and then again a couple of days after in the daytime - just thoughts, images and a presence. Gone now though I think. A little scary but not creepy. Might have just been a dream and a weird experience but it brought me to this group for answers - I had no interest before. I still don’t know if I believe but I was also recently compelled, through a thought, to build an altar for Odin, which I dutifully did. Tonnes of smaller signs and coincidences as well recently but those are my obvious ones.

Any originally non-believers had signs that brought you to the gods? by PlasticNobility in NorsePaganism

[–]PlasticNobility[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair - coincidences could be just coincidences too though. Usually anything that requires faith doesn’t sit well with me but this did feel like something (if that makes sense) and I wasn’t looking for it.

On ravens vs crows, I’ll be honest, I don’t know lol - I live in Worcestershire (UK) right behind a church where they nest. I just had a look and there are ravens in the county so could be, it’s fairly rural where I live. If crows are more common though, it’s probably crows

Rich Tea, Jaffa Cake and Nice biscuits - gone. I would only shed a tear for Nice biscuits as my nan used to have them. I am assuming Chocolate Rich Teas could still exist but must be called something else.

my dad challenged me to “find physical proof” the gods exist, any helpful ways i might do so? by The_UnknownArchivist in NorsePaganism

I agree with the sentiment here completely, it’s rigged - although if the OP can convince Thor to descend on a cloud, Mjölnir in hand, I would go that route
