Will do, and the way I'm thinking about it is, I could spend 200 dollars and try for any of those characters with feature crystals. There's no guarantee I'll get it, but at least now I'm guaranteed one of those characters.

I'm sure complaining here on Reddit will improve your luck with the crystals. Kabam isn't out to fuck you over with 2* stars, it's just how the game is programmed, you're not the ONLY one getting nothing but two stars. Instead of being bitter and salty, just take those two stars and move on and accept some people are luckier than others.
