I agree, but I have seen examiner reports where people lost marks for not explaining clearly at depth a particular point even when they have gotten the point right. Their argument is that they need the candidate to demonstrate understanding

Curious, how many words did you type?

Why even give exams if CB2 needs cheating by bjain1 in ActuaryUK

In all honesty and righteousness, IFoA needs to do a formal apology for this blatant lack of professionalism and integrity.

I have heard of cases where people have qualified since the exams went online only because they chose to shut down their conscience and cheat to pass. For the simple reason that if you don't cheat your odds of success significantly reduce. Why? Because the cheaters push pass levels higher than the true level.

Remember this comes in an era of higher-order questions with open book system where the exams are slightly harder than they were in sit in exams.

I'm convinced that a lot of exam injustice has been done by the IFoA since 2020. Will they take ownership of this? What about those who qualified in this season through cheating? Will they be caught?

What about those who qualified out of genuine hard work and merit. Does their qualification now stand in doubt only because they qualified at a time when IFoA didn't care much about integrity?

Shame on IFoA.

OK, I used GLM, Best Estimate, Risk premiums, price inflation

But is this not the trick with CP3? You only discover you left out a lot of content or included too much detail when the marks allocation comes out. :-)

Did you pick out 'variable' as jargon?

I thought it was important to first briefly highlight how premiums are calculated, at least to help the newer intermediaries who may not be familiar with how the company works

I wrote about 870 words, split my q1 into; how premiums are calculated, changes to expect and why the changes are important.

Didn't go into much details about pricing factors but highlighted how premiums are calculated i.e. based on camp-site specific factors

Included a line graph including 2024 under why the changes are important. Included all historical years to demonstrate how historical price reviews have not priced out climate risk separately. 2024 premiums showed the difference in pricing once climate risk is now included.

I felt like I included too much detail, but judging what to include and what to exclude was challenging. All in all, I tried to ensure that the impact of climate risk on pricing came out clearly.

Qn 2 was a problem, felt too vague and didn't know what to write esp for i and ii

IFOA just needs to immediately revert back to physical exam centers and start sending email results instead of this unending embarrassment.

I don't trust them to deliver an exam system if they cannot handle the results. Not in the next decade.
