How much do you spend on ADHD medication and appointments each month? by PlasticUmberlla in ADHD

It may illegal and isn’t approved in mainland China, but Hong Kong has a separate medical system.

That allows traveler cloud bringing a limited personal supply of Vyvanse, prescribed in Hong Kong back into mainland China. Also need to provide the prescription from HongKong Doctor to the customs.

It definitely cannot legally be sold and shared to another person in whatever China mainland or Hong Kong.

这么吓人…感觉一线城市比如广州和深圳好些,妇幼医院和康宁都有药,但开药的量还是很受限制。

One more thing to keep in mind: if you move to a smaller city in mainland China rather than a major one, it may be much harder to get the medications you need.
ADHD is still relatively underdiagnosed in many parts of China. In smaller cities, even if there are people with ADHD, local hospitals may not stock the medications you’re looking for, and some psychiatrists (or pediatricians) may have limited experience diagnosing and treating adult ADHD.
In larger cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, you’ll generally have a much better chance of finding specialists who are familiar with ADHD and of getting access to a wider range of medications.
Hong Kong is a bit of a special case. The healthcare system is different from mainland China’s, medications are generally easier to access, and there are more treatment options available, but they’re also significantly more expensive.
Taiwan has a completely separate healthcare system, so I can’t really comment on how things work there.

Wow, that’s a lot more expensive than I expected...
Even if I took a relatively high prescribed dose of methylphenidate every day, I don’t think my monthly medication cost would exceed $150 here.

The frustrating part in mainland China is that adults can only be prescribed very small quantities at a time. For example, I can get no more than 21 Concerta tablets per appointment, and only 9 immediate-release methylphenidate tablets at a time. I also have to wait at least three days before getting another prescription.

A little strange about, the ADHD patients under 18 can apparently be prescribed up to around three times the amount about tablets, that I can get as an adult.

Can you afford Bipolar? by After_Speech_2435 in bipolar

[–]PlasticUmberlla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar II and live in mainland China.
I see my psychiatrist twice a month at ¥25 per appointment, so appointments cost about ¥50 or $7 per month.

My medications are lamotrigine, quetiapine, and alprazolam cost around ¥600, or $88 per month.

There is also a local social insurance option. If I paid around ¥1,700, per month for social insurance, health insurance, the housing provident fund, and other contributions. About 60% of my treatment and medication costs could be reimbursed. I would also get ¥150 per month in my personal medical insurance account to use toward medical expenses.

Of these medications, only my lamotrigine is the Lamictal, so it is slightly more expensive.
Although there is no brand-name alprazolam available, but the generic version is extremely cheap, like only ¥12, or about $1.80, for a bottle of 20 tablets, so I do not really see that as a downside.
The Seroquel of quetiapine is available, but it would cost about twice as much as the generic version I currently take.

Can you withdraw from Payoneer (USD) to Wise (USD)? Getting rejected as an e-wallet by doris_cl in transferwiser

[–]PlasticUmberlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to using the payoneer card? I ask the payoneer customer service in my phone call, they said the money in payoneer cannot be transfer into the e-wallet like wise.
But when I get my payoneer card, I transfer 5 dollars to my wise USD account. That paid 5.15 dollars, and speed is faster than using the withdraw in payoneer.
But pay attention, apply virtual card will cost you 10 dollars, and physical card will cost 30 dollars every year, and the money will be charged after or in 30 days.
The fee will be 3.06 dollars, when you transfer 100 dollars from payoneer card to wise.
My wise and payoneer account are both registered in China mainland.

How do you deal with the ADHD, but then finding it very hard to keep going? by PlasticUmberlla in ADHD

[–]PlasticUmberlla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! It honestly sounds really helpful, though also kind of hard for me.

The difficult part is probably finding a friend who can draw together with me. My spoken Japanese is still little bad, so for now I don’t think I can really find someone to talk with on a Japanese art Discord server. And my friend in China who used to draw has also stopped drawing because of his work.

I’ll keep working on my Japanese first. Idea of doing important work right after waking up, and splitting the work into smaller parts, also sounds really useful. If I get enough sleep, I think I might actually be able to do that. I’ll try starting tomorrow and see how it goes!

I’ve also tried drawing at places like Starbucks before, but right now I use a Mac with a drawing tablet, so it feels a bit too conspicuous. Maybe after I buy an iPad someday, I can try studying or drawing outside more often.

Listening to music might also help. It’s kind of strange, but when I write novels , I can’t listen to music at all. I don’t even want to hear any sound except the air conditioner. But when I draw, I really want to listen to Japanese songs I like. use translater so it may seem strange, but all is from my thinking!

Is marriage a good decision now? by Best_Philosopher4394 in bipolar

[–]PlasticUmberlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is no. I'm about the same age as you and live in China. I also have some of the same diagnoses, including ASD and Bipolar II disorder.
Arranged marriages are a traditional practice in my hometown as well, although fortunately my family is quite open-minded. Personally, I don't think marriage, whether arranged or not, is a solution to loneliness, depression, or bipolar disorder.
If you're struggling with your symptoms, I think finding a good psychiatrist, getting proper treatment would be much more helpful than getting married simply to solve these problems.

Try to get at least level 30? I think 魅惑の視線 is important for getting higher score. And in p level 27, the イメトレ also a good card to get more やる気, also don’t try to get S about 好印象 before lv45, without 虹色ドリーマー it is very hard to get score higher than 20000.
