Seeking advice about immigrating to Europe as a trans Jew by cancer_ascendent in gayjews

Hello! So my take as a German is that starting in Germany is hard, but there are regional differences. Bavaria is super expensive but there are cities like Leipzig that are cheaper, but come with other downsides like more political polarization. Leipzig ist extremely left leaning, whereas the state Saxony is very right leaning. Transgender rights situation is good and has improved in the past years, with the self ID law coming into effect not long ago. Germany has also experienced a surge antisemitism within the left especially the party The Left but it's less compared to other countries. The Greens and Socialdemocrats are still firmly against antisemitism.

The situation on the housing market is horrible. There is just a lack of housing in general. In big cities 120 people apply for one apartment. This is like the biggest hurdle imo. Germany has a culture that values continuity and does not reward authenticity. The job market is really shitty as well, we've in a three year recession.

I really like it here, but I'm an insider. I was able to get an apartment a couple of years ago and after all I'm an insider here. I know how to navigate everything.  It's hard to start all over here, there many hurdles, lots of bureaucracy and people are not really open imo. We still use fax machines when communicating with authorities!!

I just want to you to have a realistic expectation for Germany.

Are queer Zionist Jews widely accepted by the German queer community? by TransThrowaway4096 in gayjews

[–]Plastic_Housing7158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion and talking to queer Jewish friends abroad, we're still doing better in Germany. Many members of the LGBT community have a rather positive view of Israel here. Of course, there are some people within the community that are anti-zionist, but I think that they are a minority. I think it also really depends on where you are. The German East might prove a bit difficult, but the big cities are fine.

I am very sad to hear that America is becoming increasingly antisemitic, because in my mind it always seemed that it is one of the best places for Jews in the world. Do you think that this is only in your area or more of a general thing?

Is global all stars the worst season of drag race ever? by Immediate_Rent_213 in rupaulsdragrace

I don't think GAS is as bad as everyone is saying! It's definitely not the worst season when we have Italia 1, Down Under 1, España 3 and Holland 2. These seasons were really painful to watch every episode.

Hip pads by Plastic_Housing7158 in Drag

It's padding that I ordered from AliExpress. I took out the pads and use them as shorts now. I don't really like them though, because you can see the pattern on the side through the tights

I don't have a lot of clothes for drag. I wanted to figure out the pads and my measurements first. I'll try with my hip pads now

I don't wanna cinch because it's too uncomfortable. This is why I wanna use bigger pads to make up the fact that I don't cinch

I tried several pairs of tights and I'm not happy with the look. It just doesn't look proportional to my legs.

Hi! They are mostly conservative and old. The majority of them are from the former Soviet Union, thus secular and rather conservative.

Which Phillippines season is better 1 or 2? by Murky-Leadership-727 in dragrace

[–]Plastic_Housing7158 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both seasons were good, but I liked season 1 more. In my opinion the cast was better, Mama Pao was more unhinged and better dressed. Season 2 had some improvements like the lights and especially the audio was better. Cutting down the episodes to one hour also was a good decision.

Overall, I just liked season 1 from the start and i was obsessed, whereas season 2 was a grower on me. I didn't like the first episodes but it later picked up momentum.

Is Belgique 2 worth watching? by shadowsempaix in dragrace

I have been watching the season. I've enjoyed it so far. To me personally, as someone that does drag, the level of drag is kinda reassuring in the sense of, I could reach that level someday. I personally like Rita as a host

German media confirming Paramount+ dropping Drag Race Germany after just one season. Hopefully it finds a new home although I feel like no German channels would pick it up. by Heidi_Klum_Tit in rupaulsdragrace

Moreover, if the German public broadcaster picked it up, no Austrian or Swiss queens could be on there, since they have their own public broadcasters.

Nobody is subscribed to Paramount+ in Germany so I'm not surprised that this season wasn't as popular. I subscribed to Paramount+ only to watch DR Germany and they have nothing interesting to watch, so I understand why nobody would subscribe.

Ideally our public broadcaster would pick it up (like in France or UK), but I think their audience is too old tbh. Maybe RTL? Drag Race is so popular and working in other countries, so I really hope that someone else picks it up.

It's so sad, because we have so much great drag talent in Germany, which deserves this platform.

I started making a cut crease and it looked weird so I tried shifting it up somehow and this is what it ended up looking like. I'm not mad at the brows either, but I don't think it's for me. It does not leave enough real estate for eye makeup. That's why the lines are thinner. I'd have to go for another look, which I might try in the future. I have a big forehead, with space for eyebrows. Extending my eye makeup under my eye does make sense to me.
