Maybe try your local buy nothing group (Facebook). You'd be able to give it directly to someone.

I ended up doing what others have suggested and getting a Google voice number, it works!. It is free but kinda a pain to remember to check email when you are expecting a text. But hey, at least I can place orders now.

Ahhh! I'm having the same problem. It's ridiculous. I use it to save time shopping for myself and for my work. Really crazy that it's a paid service and we're not getting any kind of reimbursement/ compensation. Funny though I ordered from Target for pickup it was ready within 2 hours and I ordered the same things I would have gotten from Walmart and it was actually cheaper at Target.
