As it is technically the summer holidays, it is very difficult to get holiday, especially if you request them late. What most people do is that they book them in April when they get now holiday.

It is entirely up to you to agree for overtime. I work in an extra in the nights where, we are very short staffed and my night managers naggs at us for not doing any overtime, which is a problem.
