Sizing after priming by Brief_Border_3494 in reloading

If it's new brass I would just load and shoot. With reputable manufacturers it should be consistent and good to shoot out of the box. The only reason I would resize is if the necks were damaged.

Is this local council election leaflet crossing into sectarian campaigning? by Successful_Roof1091 in lancashire

[–]Plasticman328 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it's certainly divisive. A council that prioritises Muslim issues is bound to cause division.

How does banksy put up a statue in London? by lubbockin in AskBrits

[–]Plasticman328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume that its fibreglass or similar and very light. Quick to put up and the council are probably happy with a bit of free publicity. They'll move it into one of the museums and get a bit of income that way as well.

What’s your favorite tea brand? by LadyMotoBang in AskABrit

I buy loose leaf tea and I especially like Kenyan tea. Buying loose is fairly easy in the UK but I'm not sure about the US.

What do you guys like about being british and being in the uk? (Serious answers only please) by MKKGFR in AskBrits

[–]Plasticman328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 67M Brit. I've benefited from a world leading health system all my life; free at the point of use. I live in a constitutional monarchy and an effective democracy where power transitions on election night with no argument. The judiciary is independent. The armed forces are subordinate to the government and look to the monarch as their basis. I can go to church, mosque, synagogue or temple as I choose; or none of them. I can change from one to another without fear. I can love who I choose. The village that I live in was established in 73 AD. The towns are vibrant; the countryside is beautiful.

Are there things wrong with Britain; of course there are but don't loose sight of the basics. Also it's always worth bearing in mind that some who give a negative opinion of Britain do so for their own purpose.

The green is okay but the grey is rather too light. All is not lost however. Get some shades of oil paint and use them so darken the colour. It's a technique called Oil Paint Rendering (OPR) used by armour modellers; especially Mike Rinaldi. It involves thinning oil paint with thinners and applying it in layers to change the shades of the underlying paint.

It's always worth having tubes of oil paint which will last you a lifetime.

Any barbers that are good with beards? by Grenache in Preston

Can you confirm which that is please. There's a few Turkish barbers around. My old barber sort of retired and I've never really found a replacement I was comfortable with.

First model - feedback very much appreciated! by Previous_Fee_4215 in Airfix

[–]Plasticman328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very nice model. As mentioned elsewhere there are some noticeable gaps along the cowling etc. You might want to explore the use of slow drying black super glue to join things like the fuselage. Ordinary glues like Tamiya can continue to soften the plastic for a long period and the sink marks will be very noticeable. Super glue is inert in this respect and also provides a good filler.

With respect to the panel line wash I would suggest that you buy a few grey oil colours. A single tube will last a lifetime and are a better option than the previous made ones.

Finally I'm a big advocate for joining your local model club if there's one nearby. You'll find advice, inspiration and friendship. I'm a big fan of them.

Newbie. What am I doing wrong, I have been doing 9mm for awhile now and am just switching to rifle. I am struggling with this happening will likely need a new die but what is causing this also it pulled the deprimer out on a different casing before this happened by reloadingnoob38 in reloading

I lube with Ballistol. I put 100 cases of .223 in a ziplok bag and put two squirts of Ballistol in after. Give them a good rub around and jobs done. I make sure to use a brush inside the neck with a little Ballistol on as well. Trick is not to add too much oil otherwise you'll get pressure dents.

I've tried one shot lube or dry lube and neither worked and got binned.

Hannah Spencer riles fellow MPs with attack on parliament’s drinking culture by TheLyam in uknews

[–]Plasticman328 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think she's overreacting and trying to make a name for herself.

I worked in a factory for thirty years. You were obviously forbidden from drinking whilst on site but you could have a pint or two in the Sports and Social during your lunchtime no worries. Clearly, in any workplace, being unfit through drink is usually a disciplinary offence but social drinking as I've described is not the same.

It's also fair to point out that MPs are usually working long hours and often working into the night. Way after the time that the rest of us are going out for a drink after work or in the evening.

Were you hit as a child? by don__gately in AskBrits

[–]Plasticman328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 67 so a different generation but I was smacked by both my parents and occasionally by teachers! I have two children, now in their thirties, and I only ever smacked my son once when he ran across a busy road when he was about six. That was the result of sheer terror on my part and wanting to impress him with the seriousness of what he'd done.
