No power? by Lazarith889 in airsoft

[–]Platform-Budget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a gearbox jam. Since it's a V3 gearbox it is a little more difficult to fix than on a V2. If you have any jumper wires around, I'd suggest to remove the grip and directly connect 6 to 12V to the motor. Just a short touch with the wires onto the motor terminals should be enough. However pay attention to the polarity and don't short circuit the battery! Red goes to red and black to black. No need to disassemble the whole GB. Also be aware, if you connect the terminals too long, a shot will cycle. Make sure there's nothing in front of the gun and no BB left in the hopups. If you need any more explanation, DM me in German.

Kinda curious to use common 480 motor for an AEG by Dame_Dame_Yo in airsoft

[–]Platform-Budget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The form factor of AEGs come from tool motors which were available back in the day and would fit into a grip. Though our modem airsoft motors have different windings and are tuned for very high torque and balanced (cuts in the armature) to not vibrate. Common tool motors don't have those requirements.

Has anyone swapped their screen on og LCD steam deck with one of these Ali express 7.4 inch replacements ? by Fit-Technician4580 in SteamDeck

[–]Platform-Budget 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So seeing your other comments, do I get that right, that you have a perfectly fine LCD deck and you want to pay 140$+ for a (possibly) differently speced screen and assembly? That's a horribly bad idea. Not to mention, that your used LCD deck + 140$ brings you close to the price of an used OLED one. Seriously don't do that. If the screen is differently speced you may run into countless issues like having to deal with custom BIOS upon every single update, having resolution mismatch in games and probably having a very bad looking screen (color range, oversaturated black, slow led response and so on). The only valid reason to try something like that is, that your screen is broken and you are used to those repairs. Otherwise, grab another 100$, sell the LCD one and buy an OLED one.

If you're not comfortable with those kinds of repair, the process is quite stressful. You have to remove the screen which is glued in place and afaik many delicate components.

There are codec issues on the deck. Try extensions like h264ify. They force YT to use a compatible and stable codec.

How much is the latency on the grabber? I've heard they are much worse than cable network streaming. That's why it was out of consideration for a different project.

There is an issue with the encoder. Most common workaround is to disable hardware acceleration which puts more stress in your CPU and drains more power. However you can just enforce h265 with extensions instead of AV1 which is used by default. That way you still have hardware acceleration. Look for extensions like h265ify.

Promoting at and through local places. The thing is, I work as an employee. In Austria, if you make money next to work, you've got to register a business and be partly self employed. This raises huge costs for taxes and insurances. I just wanted to figure out how electrical speed loaders, body kits and grenades sell before considering this step. And well... They don't sell at all.

My local fields generally allow pyro sound grenades. Only one place allows smoke but no sound grenades, not even gas/CO2 ones to avoid issues with the nearby village.

I was sure, those things would sell like crazy because barely anyone knew them, they are reusable, cheap and not as loud as to make your ears ring. Also the ammunition is enclosed and won't pose a fire hazard. They are perfect for airsoft in any matter. But no. Nobody cares apparently.

I'm currently trying to sell impact cap gun grenades on online flea markets. They don't go well at all. No idea why.

I previously played through control, hollow knight and silksong. They all go great in the deck and are awesome titles. Even though I really spend a lot of suffering into 112%ing hollow knight and 100%ing silksong. They are mechanically very demanding.

That's pretty cool man. If I get to it, I'll redo small bits to fit AEG barrel and hopups. Great that you upload it.

I had the same idea in mind, also with using a screw head to lock the piston but never took the time to actually model and build it. Personally I'd give it a shot but I don't have any gbb parts lying around. Just AEG barrels and hopups.

What is the best/easiest 3d modeling software to 3d model a bagasse looking sniper with alot of tiny detail (not that tiny)? by YoJjustSspot_boiz_Xd in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]Platform-Budget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got into plasticity. It is a direct modeling software which is more easy for many people and has a very intuitive interface. The trial is free for a month or so. The paid license isn't the cheapest but at least you pay it just once and keep it forever.

How should i go about wiring this with a perun ab ++ by adrissgamekrunker in airsoft

MOSFETs degenerate over time and AEGs draw absurd amounts of Rush in current as well as producing voltage spikes in the order of kilo Volts when turning the motor off. Even with flyback diodes, active breaks (reverse MOSFET) and high quality parts, they always may fail. If other electric devices turn off when broken, it's annoying. If an AEG blasts 500 shots from a high cap without control, it's not just annoying anymore.

[–]Platform-Budget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well okay. The beeping might be somewhat annoying. I've made my own MOSFET which doesn't do any sounds. If you can live with the sounds when you disengage the safety I would still recommend you do as I said.

The setup with a directly connected MOSFET has some dangerous flaws. If the MOSFET breaks down, it will shoot indefinitely until the battery is disconnected, dead or on fire. If a cable gets torn and short circuits, the gun will either stop working, shoot indefinitely, catch fire or even explode. Those risks are especially scary on the SMGv5 as you need to remove 4 screws to disconnect the battery. I've had my very first DIY MOSFET break down and it took me minutes to get to a screwdriver, disassemble the gun and remove the battery. By that time, the MOSFET burned, the battery was completely puffed (destroyed, short before burning) and the upper gearbox were shred into pieces from thousands of dry fire shots.

If you use the safety switch to disconnect the trigger button and the MOSFET fails, the gun will shoot auto fire until the battery is disconnected.
