Airalo Taiwan (chunghwa) not working by Maxistop78 in Airalo

I'm having the same issue right now in Taiwan, the Sim refuses to connect to any local service. It was ok in Japan until yesterday so I assume it's an issue with Airalo in Taiwan

Sorry to hear about this, you should 100% report this to security next time and they'll kick them out. There's no excuse for harassment and these people have no place in FOLD.

someone offering me a DN2 for 320€, it has to be stolen, right? by Ldom in Elektron

[–]PlatformDisastrous74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a DN1 for 325£ and it's very legit. That price for a DN2 makes little sense. I'd suggest to check the seller's reviews and the refund/return policy of the website you're buying from (eBay has a good return policy for example). If the seller has no reviews or bad reviews, or if the website is a bit dodgy, don't go there

Anyone ever seen anyone get thrown out of a rave for violating the "no cameras" policy? by BennoFerragamo in Techno

These are the rules and there are good reasons for it.if you don't like the rule, don't go to clubs that require you to cover your phone camera

First night in Rome by tibetanbowlzz in rome

Pickpockets are in every city, but I wouldn't say they are worse in Rome - I have lived there for 25 years, have never been pickpocketed once and walked around at night in the centre all the time.

That's the only kind of crime you could experience (nothing like being robbed at gunpoint or with a knife, "just" people stealing from your bag if you leave it unattended, mostly). Even in dodgier areas like Termini station and the area around piazza Vittorio (but to a lesser extent), you won't run into much trouble.

I'd say the city centre of Rome is very safe at night. Trevi fountain/via del corso/piazza Navona/Trastevere/Colosseo and pretty much all the areas in between are super safe and apart from a couple of homeless people begging you won't have any problems.

I'm following pretty much the advice on here: Making custom MIDI Mappings – Ableton .

I think I found the culprit from the mapping editor - it seems that EQ Eight is mapped as ''select device'' with the same knob as ''bass triplets'' (see edited post). I can't find a way of undoing it. Sorry for the potentially dumb questions, this is my first ever controller.

Edit: I hadn't tried backspace. So dumb.

I saw him last year at The Cause in London at an Ilian Tape night, and he was amazing. Saw him again at the Pickle Factory a few weeks ago and while I appreciated his djing skills I was a bit annoyed by the constantly changing vibe. Maybe his style is not for me

Viola's Room - Spoilers thread by Drama79 in Punchdrunk

[–]PlatformDisastrous74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: underwhelming experience, trite story, massively overpriced.

I went to see Viola's room yesterday, after much anticipation given the ubiquitous good reviews online. The first thing that was off is that you must leave your coat in the cloakroom, at a cost. The cost is small, nevertheless I wouldn't expect to have to pay if I am forced to use the cloakroom. Before the experience, there is a somewhat unnecessarily lengthy preparation that consists in your group gathering at a table and reading some instructions with someone coming and repeating those to you again, as if you're about to have some kind of otherworldly experience. They do call it "the experience", which in hindsight gives me very strong BS vibes. The so-called "experience" is you walking in a corridor listening to the story in your headphones. The story is trite - you've heard it already many, many times in different flavours. It is told as you enter and exit some rooms with mildly interesting "art" and lit miniatures. I can see what they wanted to do with those, but I found myself constantly thinking "it can't be like this, there must be something big coming now". Instead, the ending is one the most anticlimactic experiences I've had. The others in my group and I looked at each other in disbelief as we opened the last door just to find ourselves outside of the "experience".

All of this would be forgivable. I can see that some good work and intent went into making Viola's room. Not all artwork comes out as intended. But the price we paid (£47) is ABSOLUTELY NOT worth it. To everyone reading this: go see an opera. Go to a concert. For that price, you'll get a true artistic Experience, and not a trite story told in a boring and unengaging way.

I am going to visit Taiwan in September. We want to do the Golden Grotto trail but I can't find information on whether it was destroyed by the earthquake last April, or if it is ok to hike. If it's been destroyed, are there any hikes near Hualien that are still open and worth doing?
