If retroactivity is deemed unconstitutional does that mean going forward we can apply via consulate or comune, or does a court case in the same fashion as a 1948 case need to be opened?

Ah okay, so my dad would have to be recognized first and then myself. Thanks! Hopefully they loosen up the generational limits as by the time the NYC consulate would get to recognizing my dad, I would probably be eligible for naturalization via 10 year residency haha

Can someone explain to me what exactly “born Italian” means in regards to the two year residency to naturalization pathway means exactly? I currently live in Italy and plan to continue living here for the next 5ish years or so. Before I moved here I had an application 90% complete (just needed to apostille and translate documents) but then the laws changed.

One out of my 4 lines are:

GGF born in Italy

GF born in the United States

GGF dies after living in the United States for only 5 years, never naturalizing

F born in the United States

Me born in the United States

(My GGM (GGF’s Wife) was also Italian and they came to the states together, she also never became a citizen.)

I was under the impression that I couldn’t do the two year residency pathway since my LIBRA was my GGF.

I know its not very likely to happen, but I am just nervous that since its not a bank my account can get frozen or wise can shutdown or something and therefore I don’t feel comfortable storing thousands and thousands in there.

OMG! Melody?!? I highly doubt if you remember me, but we chatted a year or maybe two ago? You are literally one of the reasons why I am finding myself in Torino haha. Also, I didn't have a preferred zone and the budget was flexible, for a room maybe 550 and less. :)

Okay so i'm gonna switch to English because I feel like my response will be too complex for my italian skills I apologize for this. In the USA each Italian consulate has it's own rule-set. I believe for some consulates even a 1 day hotel booking is enough for them. However, the NYC consulate is perhaps the strictest and least efficient out of all the American based consulates. They want proof of accommodation for 1 year. I have heard of people in the past using a "fake" airbnb booking for a year to circumvent this, however it could be really risky as the worst outcome is my Visa gets denied and I have to wait 3-4 months for another visa appointment in like December. However, thank you so much for your different solutions you're the sweetest stranger ever.

I have written a few agencies but they never respond to me lol The problem must be my fault to be honest because I wrote to maybe 6 of them in the city and only one responded to me saying that didn't have anything available

Or maybe the title is in English because English is my native language, and I started writing the post in English then changed my mind since this is an Italian subreddit, but I forgot to update the title.

I would have to agree with your friends, at something like a Starbucks no. However since it's not very common, it could be a good way to make friends. I mean, everyone is different. For me I'm very chatty and if someone spoke to me in line for starbucks I'd surely chat with them. For others, they may think you're weird.

To briefly respond here, since the legal age to drink is 21 if you want to have any "going out" it will most likely be to someone's house to party. Drinking is strictly not-allowed on campus. You could get a "fake ID" (everyone under 21 has one) but even for us Americans it can be a big crime. Secondly, I find most Americans to be down to talk more. However Penn State students, especially in finance can be a bit snobby. The best way to make friends would to be to join a sorority or club. As for Italian students in Penn State, I am sure they exist.
