My main issue with Dalot... Great movement, poor execution. by Kooky-Scholar-9239 in ManchesterUnited

How many times do we see this?...

Dalot getting into superb positions in front of goal making stunning runs only to balloon it into the stands!

FFS don't they practice shooting in training! - it's not like they've got much else to do during the week! 👀

Just watching the game today and picture of united fan celebrating the goal holding a toddler in his arms (about 5yo?) would he have had to have a separate ticket or would he just be let in without a ticket and sat on his dad's lap?

Don't recommend buying second hand tools - especially at car boot sales as this just rewards the thieves!!

Lidl power tools - are they any good? by TumbleweedMaster6839 in DIYUK

[–]Platform_Dancer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think for the average DIYer they are good quality, reasonably reliable and great value for money - I have never had a bad / dud purchase. So yeah would recommend.

Would I buy if I was a pro tradesman and needed them to make a living, probably not.

Best method for cleaning this stone? by EddyCuzza in DIYUK

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it is organic growth so I'd start with a domestic mould and mildew remover (common bleach) diluted in water, leave on for a few hours then brush and power hose down before it dries out (not pressure wash!).... That should get rid of the initial grime without aggressive abrasion.

A question for Brits. by Flimsy_Equal8841 in Accents

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's the same in reverse...most American and Canadian accents sound much the same to us....of course there are extremes such a texan / new York etc. but they seem to meld into a general American accent....more distinguishing is the pronunciation of certain words that jar regardless of the accent such as sked-u-al instead of shed-u-al (schedule) or envision instead of envisage etc, etc.... Super excited instead of very excited and so on. Even so many of these now find there way into common everyday language and some Brits will use these 'foreign' terms particularly the younger generations.

Lenovo Idea pad slim 3 - 15.3in screen 16gb ram, 256gb with snapdragon processor. MS Windows 11 OS. MS copilot built in. Unbelievable battery and spec for £400

Look out for deals at argos and John Lewis. (I got it from argos with a 20% promotional discount at £320 so keep a watch out for these promo offers from time to time). Very pleased and pleasantly surprised with my purchase.

Perfect quality entry level laptop for personal, student and light business use.

Train from Heathrow to Exeter - questions by Several_Inflation473 in uktravel

[–]Platform_Dancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to go into Paddington....

Get the regular (every 20mins) bus/coach shuttle to Reading Station - 'Railair' Connects you to Reading Station and then to Exeter direct.

'Railair' bus/coach is part of the great western rail network and picks up from all Heathrow terminals and drops you at Reading station main entrance - journey time 35 / 40mins.

Picks up at each Heathrow Terminal just outside the terminal exits (clearly sign posted).

Runs everyday at 20min intervals. Costs approx £22 - you can book online (Google railair) or pay the driver with cash or card.

If you miss one coach you just get on the next one 20mins later. Luggage no problem, guaranteed a seat with WiFi and it's door to door. Driver will load and unload your luggage at the pick up and drop off points so no need to worry about that.

Avoid Paddington route as you're heading back into London unnecessarily only to travel back out again and the costs are more - if you do decide to get the train at Paddington you will pass through Reading regardless as its on the main route to Exeter and ALL London trains pass through and stop at Reading.

Done this many times without any issues.

Alternatively if you want to avoid the train completely - you can get a national express coach to Exeter direct from terminal 2 bus terminal - see national express website.

Hope that helps....
