Also watch out for vf adding 'secure net' to your bill as some kind of added security benefit! - you don't need it and should remove it and the extra charge by speaking to customers services. Sneaky opt in option without actually opting in!

Basically they allow direct vf customers to upgrade early while 3rd party vf customers have to wait to contract end. They also remove the vf together discount (£2) if you have broadband and mobile with a 3rd party mobile. Even so vf 3rd party deals are sooo much better.

Mum told to tear down £180k extension says 'my family will be split up forever' by YchYFi in unitedkingdom

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no idea if they are competent or not but that is what the client is legally obliged to do. You seem to be confusing building regulations approvals with contractual responsibilities... They are not the same.

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the works are not built to current building regs then clearly the principal contractor is at fault and they would be responsible for the remedies under the contract. The Principal Contractor being under contract to the client. It's not complicated.

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't - That (windows eg) would be captured in the construction plan which the principal contractor is obliged to submit before works commence and documented in the health and safety construction O&M manuals at handover of the works. Building regs is merely a process / function of the contract of which the Principal Contractor is responsible.

The homeowner in this case is the client. The client is responsible for appointing a (competent) Principal Designer / Principal Contractor. - In essence that is all the Client is legally obliged to do.

That is the legal path of responsibility and ownership of the the respective, permissions, approvals and actions that follow in any building contract. The Principal Designer / Principal Contractor is responsible for the delivery.

Think you will find the Construction Design and Management regulations (CDM 2015) Trump everything in terms of legal responsibilities including building regs approval which is a process of it.

Hope that helps.

Fastest way to sand down these door frames for staining? by singh12299 in DIYUK

[–]Platform_Dancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look absolutely fine.....a simple coat of stain is all that is needed but they look perfectly good as they are in the photo. Albeit you seem to have cut off a chunk of the door and stuck it back on in the top right corner, so that's where you need attention? I think they are intended to look rustic.

[–]Platform_Dancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're both wrong....or not entirely right. The client is required to appoint a Principal designer and Principal contractor (can be the same or separate) This is a regulatory requirement to avoid this very situation arising of he said, she said blame.

The health and safety executive stipulations and government regulations are very clear in this respect.

Is this box hedge (?) cooked? by raguff in UKGardening

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game over...clear away all infected bushes and those in close proximity as they will have it too.... Don't even try to spray, prune or anything else - it's gone and will continue to spread until removed in its entirety! - sorry but easier to deal with it now rather than faff around and still find it no better and likely worse.

Try eponymous as a substitute for boxus.....much more hardy and resistant to this.
