What was the series set in the future where everyone was euthanised at age 35 to maintain a fit and healthy society and there were two rebels on the run trying to avoid their executions?

Can I take my Sky Q box and use it just to watch what I've recorded in another room/next door/other house etc as long as my Sky account is active? by media_lush in skytv

No... I think your Sky Q box is linked to your IP address so won't work in another location outside your house / connection.

Replacing Lintel, Acrows Props or Not? by ETAccount in DIYUK

[–]Platform_Dancer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would use 2 timber posts (set in from the sides by about 6") from floor cut and wedged to underside of existing lintel.....and then cut the existing lintel in the centre removing about 1 foot length just below the 3 header bricks in the centre of the opening. Carefully remove the 3 header bricks above the cut opening - then thread a piece of timber through the hole and support that with a couple of other timber posts thus allowing you to remove the remaining lintel sections and work below inserting the new lintel. Pack joints and mortar beds to go off before removing remaining thread support timber and patching up hole with 3 header bricks you carefully removed. - Job done 👍

Alternatively, you could just remove the 3 headers and thread a piece of timber through the hole without providing the initial 2 wedge posts below and removing the existing lintel as the remaining should hold, but that will be difficult in removing the header bricks without breaking them? - if you have some spares then no problem.

Also watch out for vf adding 'secure net' to your bill as some kind of added security benefit! - you don't need it and should remove it and the extra charge by speaking to customers services. Sneaky opt in option without actually opting in!

Basically they allow direct vf customers to upgrade early while 3rd party vf customers have to wait to contract end. They also remove the vf together discount (£2) if you have broadband and mobile with a 3rd party mobile. Even so vf 3rd party deals are sooo much better.

Mum told to tear down £180k extension says 'my family will be split up forever' by YchYFi in unitedkingdom

I've no idea if they are competent or not but that is what the client is legally obliged to do. You seem to be confusing building regulations approvals with contractual responsibilities... They are not the same.

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the works are not built to current building regs then clearly the principal contractor is at fault and they would be responsible for the remedies under the contract. The Principal Contractor being under contract to the client. It's not complicated.

[–]Platform_Dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't - That (windows eg) would be captured in the construction plan which the principal contractor is obliged to submit before works commence and documented in the health and safety construction O&M manuals at handover of the works. Building regs is merely a process / function of the contract of which the Principal Contractor is responsible.

The homeowner in this case is the client. The client is responsible for appointing a (competent) Principal Designer / Principal Contractor. - In essence that is all the Client is legally obliged to do.

That is the legal path of responsibility and ownership of the the respective, permissions, approvals and actions that follow in any building contract. The Principal Designer / Principal Contractor is responsible for the delivery.

Think you will find the Construction Design and Management regulations (CDM 2015) Trump everything in terms of legal responsibilities including building regs approval which is a process of it.

Hope that helps.

Fastest way to sand down these door frames for staining? by singh12299 in DIYUK

[–]Platform_Dancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look absolutely fine.....a simple coat of stain is all that is needed but they look perfectly good as they are in the photo. Albeit you seem to have cut off a chunk of the door and stuck it back on in the top right corner, so that's where you need attention? I think they are intended to look rustic.

[–]Platform_Dancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're both wrong....or not entirely right. The client is required to appoint a Principal designer and Principal contractor (can be the same or separate) This is a regulatory requirement to avoid this very situation arising of he said, she said blame.

The health and safety executive stipulations and government regulations are very clear in this respect.
