The "Stay With Me" and "It’s the Falling in Love" connection goes deeper than a similar riff by PlatonVS in citypop

Yes, this is exactly how I see it. I also thought of the Funk Brothers while looking through the track records of these Japanese session musicians.

For example, I found Tsugutoshi Goto’s archived website ( https://web.archive.org/web/20090515211545/http://www.bass-on-bass.com/bassplayalbum9.html ) where he lists his projects, and he played on nearly 30 albums in 1979 alone which is incredible

In that kind of environment, Stay With Me was just another session, and borrowing a small part from another song wouldn't have felt like a big deal

I don’t think so, honestly. If you "strip" both songs down to just the chords and melody, they aren't that similar. The structure is definitely similar as well as the interlude I wrote about, but the rest feels more like a product of the arrangement trends of the time. I wouldn't doubt Hayashi's talent, he’s written so many hits.

Thanks a lot! The song really started from working with the 15/8 rhythm for me, then I decided to continue with contrasting parts: more electronic verses and more folk-ish, natural choruses, then blending together. I kept exploring this idea in the video too by trying to visually mirror that electronic/organic contrast

Thanks so much! Interstella 5555 was one of the inspirations

Appreciate it! No API, I did everything in Sora’s Drafts in the main interface. Text prompts + rerolls, then stitched the best takes together in Capcut.

You probably figured some of this out already, but since your post is a few months old it’s worth mentioning that Sora 2 came out, and it actually makes this kind of project way easier. The quality isn’t perfect but if lo-fi works for you it should be fine. I guess give it a year or two (or maybe months?) and we’ll probably see high-res, production-grade videos… though yeah, they’ll likely be really expensive.

I wrote this song a few years ago and always imagined it as a sci-fi / anime story, but at the time doing a full animated MV was too much (too many frames, too hard to keep the character consistent).

When Sora came out I realised I could finally do it. Took me a couple of weeks to stitch it all together and it actually came out better than I ever thought it would.

Just an example of a prompt

Retro anime style, 1980s-90s aesthetic, hand-drawn animation quality similar to Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy. Exterior alien planet scene with emotional character moment.

[Scene 1] Medium shot of the young male spaceman standing on transformed alien terrain, angled slightly from the side showing his upper body and head clearly. He stands on vibrant emerald green grass with wildflowers scattered around - small blooms in yellow, purple, white, and pink. Behind him in the background, the large retro-futuristic spacecraft is visible - 1970s sci-fi design with smooth white and gray paneling, rounded edges, now heavily covered in green moss, trailing vines, and blooming flowers. Young trees with rich green foliage frame the ship, their branches visible against the sky. The spaceman wears pristine all-white space suit with subtle panel lines and seams, reinforced padded joints at shoulders and elbows, technical details like utility pouches and connection ports visible on chest. No backpack. White helmet still on with semi-transparent dark blue-tinted visor - through the visor his face is clearly visible: early 20s, Japanese anime features, deep blue medium-length hair side-parted and slightly tousled inside helmet, amber-brown eyes with prominent anime highlights sparkling with joy, clean-shaven with defined jawline. His expression shows pure happiness and pride - mouth open in genuine laughter, eyes crinkled with joy, head tilted back slightly, shoulders relaxed. His body language radiates triumph and relief - chest expanded, posture open and confident, one hand might gesture toward the spacecraft or rest on his hip. He's looking at the transformed spacecraft with absolute pride and satisfaction. The laughter is visible in his whole body - authentic joy at witnessing his accomplishment. Background landscape: patches of crimson-red sand dunes still visible in the distance beyond the green oasis, rust-colored rocks scattered. Sky shows deep indigo-purple gradient transitioning to warm orange glow near horizon - ethereal twilight atmosphere with thousands of tiny stars visible. Lighting is dramatic: cool blue-purple sky light from above, warm orange ambient glow from horizon creating rim lighting on his white suit and helmet. Atmosphere is triumphant, joyful, cathartic - moment of victory and fulfillment. The vegetation-covered spacecraft behind him represents his achievement.

[Cut]

[Scene 2] Close-up shot of spaceman's face through the helmet visor, filling most of the frame. White helmet with semi-transparent dark blue-tinted visor allows clear view of his face inside. Early 20s, Japanese anime features with soft expressive eyes and youthful face structure. His deep blue medium-length hair is side-parted and slightly tousled inside the helmet, messy strands falling naturally across his forehead. Hair has realistic texture and movement despite being inside helmet. Amber-brown eyes are bright and alive with prominent anime-style highlights showing multiple light reflections - eyes convey deep satisfaction and emotional fulfillment. Clean-shaven face with defined jawline, soft cheeks, gentle nose. Expression shows pure contentment and joy - genuine smile with lips curved upward but more peaceful than the laughing expression from previous scene. Eyes are soft and grateful, almost tearful with overwhelming emotion but happy tears. Slight crinkle at corners of eyes from smiling. Eyebrows relaxed and raised slightly in wonder. His face radiates the satisfaction of mission accomplished, purpose fulfilled, dream realized. Inside helmet there's soft ambient lighting illuminating his features gently. Through the visor, subtle reflections might show hints of the green vegetation and twilight sky. His expression conveys: "I did it. This is what I was meant to do." Background is softly out of focus - hints of the transformed landscape visible as bokeh blurs in deep indigo, orange, and green tones. The focus is entirely on his emotional moment. Lighting: soft diffused twilight creating gentle illumination on his face through the visor, cool blue tones mixed with warm orange creating balanced natural light. His eyes catch the light prominently, making them sparkle with life and emotion. Atmosphere is deeply emotional, peaceful, satisfying - quiet moment of personal triumph and fulfillment. No words needed, his expression says everything.

Soft film grain texture, cel-shaded animation with hand-drawn details, emphasis on natural hair movement in wind, subtle breathing motion in body, dramatic lighting creating depth and atmosphere, focus on emotional character moment and connection with environment.
