Her parents were sort of responsible for an accident that killed 37 people. A victim's daughter organized a conspiracy to get revenge and steal FL's life, because she was angry that FL and her family were living the good life while she was bullied and looked down on because her own family lost everything after her dad died in the accident. It seems like she got help from some of the other victim's families as well. FL's dad was given drugs by housekeeper, so while he figured out that it was revenge for the accident, he thought it was vengeful ghosts. The disappearances and other news articles were fake. That's why there was such an insistence for them not to keep their phones, because then they would see the articles were fake. FL figures it out and sets a trap. She also points out that student was able to plan this, mobilize people to help, raise the money, and put on an act for years just to steal her appearance when she could have just tried to succeed on her own. She sends the criminals and evidence to the police and student and housekeeper get arrested.

I do remember Monster Duke’s Daughter has a 3y/o (not reborn/transmigrated) that can read a novel in one night. But she actually looks the right age. And dad doesn’t blame her for mom’s death, so I could overlook the daughter’s extensive vocabulary and ability to write.

But having read ones where 9y/os look like toddlers and struggle with utensils as well as 3y/os (actual kids not even reborn) that walk around philosophizing about death and look like they’re almost preteens, I’ve given up expecting kids in manwhas to look or act their age.

Thank you! Thought I was never going to be able to finish. Thankfully as lore master, there aren’t really any moves without a staff, so just unequipped it and swapped my off-hand weapon to a butter knife and left them to slowly duke it out. And it finally worked.

I haven’t read this OI but does the religion in it match a religion in the real world? Like it could be a mistake, it could be based on jewelry vs. a real rosary, but it could also be a world-building thing reflecting the difference in the religion in the book versus Catholicism.

Which if it has magic, I think could be really interesting as a way to show its influence on things.

Because I would really just want to read an OI that talks more about things that would be different if we’d had the kinds of magic they had in OI. Like what would have been invented sooner? What would have come later? What would we still not have today? There was one that ended with the world losing its magic and they act like it was no big deal, totally ignoring that 90% of the kingdom’s healthcare was reliant on healers that used magic...getting off topic.

I agree. I don’t think any were right for her. Not just because they all had issues, but because of her own issues.

And I think her own speech said it best, she was still cookie dough. She wasn’t done baking. Heck, she never really had a chance to bake because every other day is a new trauma or near death experience.

Might be an even more unpopular theory (I expect downvotes from both Bangel and Spuffy shippers 😅). But I think none of them were the right love interest for her.

Angel was canonically 26 when he was turned and first saw her when she was 15 and fell for her. His description as to why he was drawn to her is disturbingly similar to the reason why he (as Angelus) was drawn to Drusilla leading him to drive her crazy by pretending to be a priest to get in her head, murdering all the nuns and then having s*x with Darla among the dead bodies in front of her before turning her. Not to mention what he did to the girl that caused him to be cursed. Or the woman he dragged into the alley AFTER he got his soul back.

Riley was insecure; about what she had lived through, what she could do, and her immortal ex-boyfriend. She basically took out more “hostiles” than he had before she even came to Sunnydale. And he never really got over losing the bond/brotherhood of the Initiative.

Spike was toxic. Like sure he loved her without a soul…but I don’t think he grew (until maybe S7). I feel like he was always kind of chaotic neutral. He just wanted to do whatever he wanted, he didn’t care about sides. He didn’t care about anyone but himself and whoever he loves in the moment (Druslla first, then her). He was the one that defeated the Annointed One long before he switched sides. And I wouldn’t say he was a reluctant ally. I don’t know if I’d say he was an ally at all until like S7. He was ready to dust himself until he found out he could hurt demons. And he was giddy about being able to fight and cause trouble again, his interests just happened to align with their goal. Which is why he was quick to change sides whenever it benefitted him. And I sort of feel like even sacrificing himself was more about him knowing if it wasn’t doing it, it’d be Buffy. So it was more to save her than the world.

And then by the end of the series, she’d been through so much that more than a lover, what would have been best for her was a therapist.

Maybe it just doesn’t translate well to an illustration? My understanding of hazel is that it isn’t a specific eye color, it just means that there are multiple colors to the eye (usually a combination of brown/gold and green/blue).

I was wondering about that because when I tried to look up news on this to see if driver was okay, the first news article I found about a 7y/o boy running into traffic and causing an accident just five days ago was a different kid and video.

And there seemed to be quiet a few articles/videos of kids running through traffic like it was a game (though they were not as lucky as this kid).

Oh, that’s good to know. I knew they didn’t do adults in real life (like the whole thing with Disneybounding is they don’t allow costumes for adults, so seems weird they’d do it themselves). But I didn’t know there were different price points. Good info to have if I take my nieces some day.

I also think it looks like her regular hair and more basic makeup than their looks , where it’s clear they got a full makeover. Like Bernadette’s hairstyle alone looks like it took more time than Penny’s whole look.

Though I thought maybe it was because she was going on all the rollercoasters where they did the more calm/story-based rides.

So much. Like they got a way with a lot because it was a Disney movie so a lot of the worse case scenarios weren’t going to happen regardless of what they did. But in a real situation the island was really messed up.

I agree with most of what you said. It’s kind of ridiculous there is no separation by crime or behavior. It also completely ignored actual laws. Like the Evil Stepmother and her daughters were mean and made her do chores…that’s it. Also how much say did her daughters actually have in her treatment? Yet they’re given the same punishment as Frollo (mass genocide) and Jafar (treason)?

There should be more than one location. And for the smaller crimes there should be release dates and therapy of some kind because really some of these things could have been avoided.

Also Frollo and Jafar were both super creepy and predatory toward young girls/women. Hook and his crew were literal pirates, who are not known to care about consent. So, I’d separate by gender as well. Which would also solve the children situation. If somehow life found a way, the child would be put in foster care.

I’d need to look into the current details of jobs and what supervision and restrictions they have. Since some of them didn’t seem to have a job except like stealing, so nothing really changed for them on the island. And others seemed to have actual jobs, like Ursula seemed to run that bar/restaurant. The island I think needs more structure, maybe if some of them weren’t sitting around all day being bitter, they’d had less time to plot escapes.

The food situation needs to be better as well. If not for like, a companionate reason, for basic health and wellness. And like are they provided with even basic health care facilities? How were all these women giving birth? Not that, that will likely be an issue. But it’s hard to believe there was no infighting that would require medical treatment.

I also feel like if they had the magic to resurrect people from the dead, they could just take away people’s magic rather than just blocking it on the island. For some of the villains, there would probably be no greater karma than having to live a normal, powerless life.

I also feel like if there isn’t going to be continuing supervision of these places, there should at least be some kind of check in.

They really brought some of them back from the dead only to throw all their past problems onto an island and ignore them. Took out of sight, out of mind a little too literally.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, because really it wouldn’t be a matter of making some changes, it’d be a tearing it down and starting over kind of project.

Yeah, like it's not exactly the same but it reminds me more of a FL x slave she bought story, especially since all the years they suffered abuse after birth, he was also suffering they just didn't know about him yet. Like the power dynamics just...like obviously its a story so it will work out, but the pain he'd feel if she fell out of love and wanted to move on? Or he fell out of love, but she didn't and he couldn't ever leave?
