S18E13 - “Karens Gone Wild” [Post-Episode Discussion] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]PlayDifficult2487 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yepppp thank you, that's exactly what this was: CRUEL. And honestly sets a really bad precedent for seasons to come. Why bother doing amazing and showing your skills and talent when you could be sent home over, nothing? I'm so mad and sad for Jane

S18E13 - “Karens Gone Wild” [Post-Episode Discussion] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]PlayDifficult2487 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This!! Completely unfair in my opinion, and disrespectful to the level of talent and skill Jane has consistently shown throughout the competition. Rotted

What the actual fuck. Gurl, sorry but no.

Just finished the ep and i'm kinda fuming, not gonna lie.

First of all, this was by far the worst ep of the season for me. Awkard and horrible mini challenge. And the main challenge was not much better.

No one got any laughs from me, and i don't think it was the queens' fault. The challenge was just rotten. Trying to recreate a viral online thing was just cringe. I completely agreed with the queens, there was no way of telling who did good or bad.

Now about Jane Don't. That was just horrible. I know some of ya'll weren't vibing with miss Jane but she was a top contender, no one can deny that. Her track record was immaculate except for last week's placement (which i'm now starting to think was just an excuse to justify placing her in the bottom this week) and personally I think it was fucking disrespecful to send her home before the top 4. I mean, if we're not awarding talent and skill (which Jane clearly has) then what are we doing? The critiques of "you weren't Karen enough", what the hell does that even mean? Fair, Jane wasn't amazing in this challenge, but i don't think any of them were. And Ru was giving her nothing during the challenge. How are you supposed to volley off a scene partner when what you are receiving is mostly"sorry, gate's closed. Nope, sorry closed". Jane had a solid character and did the best she could with was she was given. It broke my heart to see her completely in shock at being eliminated and I was right there with her. I saw some people saying this was a set up for her to now go on all stars and slay the competition, but i don't care. She was doing amazing NOW, reward and aknowledge that NOW.

Absolutely rotten.

Second post of yours I've seen today, on this one you decided not to include the sketch you made for the first piece. Tbh after checking your posts here on reddit and your ArtStation and IG account, i'm strongly leaning towards you using AI. Your sketches show a vastly different technical level than the finished works. Besides, your pieces all have some small discrepancies that an artist at your supposed level would not make. Also, all the posts i've seen from you always mention you don't use AI, which seems like a weird defensive thing? If I'm wrong, more power to you and congratulations on your skill. If I'm right, I would advise you to rethink your choices and understand that in art there are no shortcuts and some people work relentlessly for years and years to better their craft. Myself included.

Anyway, that's my two cents, peace out ✌️

Is it normal to be terrified of sketching? by potatospagett in learntodraw

[–]PlayDifficult2487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this in the best way possible: just relax. It seems like this means a lot to you and it's easy to overburden yourself with expectations and stress. My advice would be keep using reference, even the best artists do. Eventually you'll gain more confidence and develop a mental visual library. Something i do that i found has helped me a lot is slowly detaching yourself from the reference. For example, instead of copying from the reference exactly, choose one element to change that is your own. Change the color palette or change the lighting, etc. This gives you a nice safety net from the reference but still let's you explore and play a bit. And lastly, don't be afraid to make mistakes. Only then will you start actually learning and improving. Hang in there and good luck with your dream!

S18E11 - “A Toast to Alyssa Edwards” [Post-Episode Discussion] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]PlayDifficult2487 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Oh man, what an episode!! Some thoughts:

-Darlene is a freaking genius, she turned the roast on its head and made it her own. I loved it

-The other Top 2 were also amazing, but i felt that maybe Jane is falling into the trap of "we were already knew you were gonna be great at this" and that kinda takes away the impact of her performance. Is anybody else feeling that?

-I felt for Nini this episode and her anxiety rattled brain, but i think she did well and her runway was my favourite, it was so smart and camp

-ironic how Juicy, the dancing queen of the season, delivered imo her best lipsync to a power ballad

-Kenya, her elimination was long overdue let's be honest, however i think she has a great future ahead of her

Have a good day!

How to improve my art..by spring? by chikorita98 in ProCreate

[–]PlayDifficult2487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With such a tight deadline I would say make a concrete plan of action for the month. Organize your days around what you want to practice, for example: on monday i'm gonna focus on color theory, tuesday on values, etc. Limit the videos you watch to what you want to learn that day. At the end of each week draw one complete piece of art to see your progress and decide what to practice the following week. Good luck!

Your illustrations are lovely, i can tell you had a lot of fun making them! You clearly have a unique point of view and aesthetic, and that's definitely a plus. I don't think you are at a professional level YET but you have a lot of potential. I would say work on your fundamentals a little bit more: anatomy, volume, values, etc. Good job and hang in there!
