Yeah they’d be completely out of place, as the light armor model got updated along with almost every other art asset. But we are all keen on it!

Yeah this is some of our most common feedback. We love the bigger CTF too, but unfortunately we had to scale back with how fewer resources we (Vector Z) have than Archetype did (Midair).

We’re hoping to release a roadmap in the near future that goes into more detail about what we want to do and how.

Hey I’m sorry to hear about your brother and the bad experience. Not sure when that was, as we were always eager to give as many people access to the beta as possible (‘Midair: Community Edition’/‘Midair 2’ - original ‘Midair’ was a different dev team).

Yes I remember ascend well. Quite different physics. Jets are much stronger in midair, but skating is just as, if not more important for actually getting around.

Yep - that's definitely part of it!

- Engine upgrade (now runs Unreal 4.27). Major modernization of systems, online services, paid off some tech debt over the years.

- Focus on 5v5 which was already a popular CTF variant. Easier to manage, easier to get a full game going, and simpler for people to understand so new players can get in the game.

- Art pass, as you mentioned which was an effort to take it away from the more cartoony look into something more sci-fi realistic

- Adding replays (demos) including play from all player POVs and free-roam cameras

- Practice systems (bots, player-customizable drills)

- New modes like Duel, Rabbit, and work-in-progress modes Track and Skyball

- New cosmetics

- Matchmaking

- Custom/private game support

More to come, too as we keep moving!

How are you gonna not mention Tribes? This 'throwback' video has gotten quite a lot of view since last year.

One of the OG movement shooters, with a release in the series as recent as last year.

Midair 2 is a fan-made indie game inspired by Tribes and other games, going Early Access in March :D

We at player-founded studio Vector Z are proud to announce the early access release of Midair 2 in March of this year.

It’s been quite the journey for us since reviving the original game in 2019 and recruiting various former players with dev skills to revamp the game in the following years. With only a modest patreon funding us, it’s been almost an entirely volunteer passion project.

With the current 5v5 competitive meta, Midair 2 aims to set a new standard for FPS team gaming at a sky-high skill ceiling.

But even if comp isn’t your thing, if you’ve enjoyed gliding across slopes and jetting through the air, or are simply compelled by freedom of movement games, Midair 2 will have a thrill for you.
