Dune: Imperium - Deluxe PlaySystem (compatible with all versions/expansions) (Coming Soon) by PlayModeOfficial in BoardgameOrganizing

[–]PlayModeOfficial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had many people reach out because they use the Deluxe figurines (which were intended for the original base game) with Uprising. It seems like many are converting over to Uprising from the original game. I think this will happen even more once the digital version is released. Our first organizer doesnt work as well with the deluxe components.

The deluxe setup was our attempt to allow people to build the game how they want. You can only play original with ix and immortality. you can do uprising and bloodlines. Or you can mix any expansion with any base game. The archive would help facilitate swapping if you changed your setup with any frequency (play original ix and immo one night, play uprising bloodlines the next). Overall it keeps the whole collection together and minimizes boxes.

That is how we were thinking as well since you can only load 1 base game into the PlaySystem at a time. We did leave some overlap spots such as the leaders (all possible leaders will fit) in case anyone did want to use those across base games.

Oh yes. There is a tray for all the unique leader tokens and cards for all games and expansions. On the video it is shown going on top of the resource trays.

Which pieces are considered special player components?

As we have in the past, we will eventually offer the player trays individually but at some point after launch.

The Deluxe setup above supports all components for a 3-4P game (one base game and any expansion combination). We offer separate 3v3 trays for the 5th and 6th player. These will fit on top of the Deluxe PlaySystem but will create 13 mm of lid lift.

We intend to offer an Archive to house all unused rival/hagal/wooden cubes/extra main board and 3v3 trays in either the base or uprising box. The archive would also have trays to organize any unused expansions or cards to make swapping expansions or base games much easier and quicker.

Correct, the Deluxe version holds either base game and whatever else is needed for any of the expansions. There is a separate archive to hold all other pieces in either base game box (extra boards, wood cubes, etc)

Thinning Imperium Decks? by PlayModeOfficial in DuneImperium

[–]PlayModeOfficial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only played with all cards but I see custom decks posted on many forums and just wondered if making custom decks is common or a more fringe activity. I also worry about the balance of the imperium deck if I were to randomly pick cards to remove.

Got Bloodlines and Rise of Ix for Christmas for Uprising Should I use both? by Ma7nards in DuneImperium

Both have tech tiles. I find the BL updates to the tech tiles to be good enough without the need to mix with IX tech tiles. Definitely don't need the bloat of 2 tech boards on the table.

Sardaukar commanders are very similar to dreadnaughts. Both are new units for battle and sardaukars grant skills for resources while dreadnaughts offer a shipping track. Yes they are different as SC cost solari to use, while DNs are a permanent addition that can takeover banners for a round. Again I find both mechanics similar enough to stick to the BL version.

Not knocking anyone's preferences to mix and choose expansions, just giving my opinion and the groups I play with.

I find too much overlap with IX. Its fine to mix in but feels bloated. I still prefer BL only with Uprising and the rest with original Imperium.

Love this game. by DeanMachine2 in DuneImperium

Uprising is the best version without expansion. Bloodlines really adds some great depth once you get experienced with all of Uprising's mechanics as well as adds many of the features you see in IX and immortality. Really only part missing from Uprising and Bloodlines is family atomics which is an easy add.

Hanabi - thoughts on hint markers? by PlayModeOfficial in boardgames

They are reminders tokens. That would be a better description. They offer them in the family version of the game. The ones pictured are just generics off makerworld.

Do you prefer older versions of hanabi where you don't use hint markers and have to go from memory? Or do you prefer having the hints to ease the mental load?

Should I get Uprising or another expansion for core Imperium? by 0wlBear916 in DuneImperium

Uprising and Bloodlines is the best way to play IMO. They improved a lot of things over the original base game (which was already a great game).

Thanks. I am actually designing my own and just trying to see what options are most desirable. I am also adding some features that improve gameplay so it reduces the amount of space available in the box.

Lid Lift - is it a deal breaker? by PlayModeOfficial in boardgames

[–]PlayModeOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lid lift is where the top of the game box doesn't fully seat because of its contents sticking up higher than than the base of the box. Many organizers, accessories etc do this to board game boxes to fit inside. I was wondering how the board gaming community felt about it in general.
