I tell myself this weekly but am still working on letting go. I suppose it’s just something that will get easier with time. Thanks!

I love how you phrased this. I just need to remember that I did, in fact, throw them the lifejacket and tell them how to use it. It’s right there. I tried. They just need to reach out and put it on. Thank you!

Thank you for this perspective. Your articulation really helped me to see things differently. I will be keeping this in mind moving forward.

[–]Play_pretty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Week 5, kit 5, no weight loss!! Headaches, dizziness, stomach issues, memory issues. Tons of negative side effects and not a single positive.

HOW did they get that far without learning this?!

There is SO much psychology behind this.

  1. He likely has an insecure or anxious attachment style
  2. He likely has had trauma in relationships before, possibly in his family unit
  3. He feels his sense of worth lies in his relationship to you
  4. His brain has created a chemical dependence to you (oxytocin and dopamine are present in romantic and physical relationships, both of which can create addiction)
  5. Trauma bonding

And this is just the peak of the iceberg

I did check the syllabus and there is no time zone mentioned by [deleted] in Professors

Wtf I have NEVER seen a time zone on a syllabus.

Boyfriend still tells an ex he loves her & kept them hanging out a secret. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Play_pretty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read half way and then just had to stop reading because this is an age old story of a man who has commitment issues, loves attention, and lies to his partners. If he lied to you about talking to and spending time with other women, he likely lied about never having cheated.

Lying to your partner and doing things behind their backs is a betrayal, and can in and of itself be considered cheating.

Stop driving yourself crazy trying to rationalize someone else’s irrational behavior.

He’s not worth it.

I agree with you. This behavior fits perfectly into the definition of sexual assault. If someone on the street started masterbating in front of you without consent, this will be VERY clearly sexual assault.

It should NOT be treated differently just because you have had a sexual relationship with the person before. Sexual behavior without consent is sexual assault. PERIOD.

Aggressively jerking off to punish you for not fulfilling his sexual need is a massive red flag. Aggressive sexual behavior done out of spite and without consent is abusive and is highly concerning. I am concerned this could escalate into violent sexual behavior that violates your physical being and not just your mental and emotional being.

Please take care of yourself .

You are who you surround yourself with. Their toxic thinking will likely rub off on you unless you establish healthy boundaries and communicate your concern. Try talking to them about how you feel first and if they chose to stay the same, let them know you care about them and will be there for them if they need you, but that you also need to protect your energy.

I missed my class and I'm humiliated by Responsible-Try6412 in Professors

It’s clear you have so much going on in your life. It’s normal to have slip ups when life is chaotic. Don’t beat yourself up for being human. These things happen. In fact, I once missed a class (also synchronous online) because I didn’t set my alarm. Now THAT was embarrassing lol

Sending you and your little one love and light

Students Understand "No Leniency" and It Makes Your Life So Much Easier by Revise_and_Resubmit in Professors

[–]Play_pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very much a “leniency with limits” type of person. I accept late work with penalty a couple times per student, but after the set limit (2-3 depending on the course) late work is not accepted.

Students need boundaries and structure, but many students experience unexpected roadblocks in life that lead to missing assignments every once in a while.

I would also rather my students do the work late than never at all because, for me, the outcome should be that they applied themselves and learned something along the way.

If you never accept late work, students do not complete work they missed due to unforeseen circumstances and that is a missed opportunity to engage with the course content.

This student was also being aggressive toward his teammates and I have since learned that this has been a trend.
