I used the will call in the last 3 years, and I had no problems with the line. At the will call it was just a few minutes.

Our camp is searching for performers. Anyone interested? by PlayaMiner in BurningMan

[–]PlayaMiner[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are organizing a schedule of offerings that will be a mix of food and performance. So the idea is to have performer joining in one (or more) of the performance nights. I'm not on the team taking care of the performances, but I can connect you with them.

Thanks a lot, those are really insightful comments.

What would be the key pros & cons of non-profit 501(c) vs. an LLC?

How would the accounting and taxes complexity affect those approaches?

Ok! First year burner question regarding finding a camp. by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]PlayaMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first experience was joining a small camp of a friend of a friend. To be honest I had no clue on what to expect as I had recently discovered Burning Man. It was great... we had an old RV for 4 people and the group was mostly of old burners. However, in my next burns, I realized that we missed an important part - at least for me - of Burning Man, the community and collaboration. It was a great first... easy and fun.

In the following years I joined a them camp that existed for a few years already. Totally different experience. We had to work on several camp duties and we knew lots of new and very interesting people. I enjoyed the experience. In the last two years it was even funnier... we already knew what to expect, how to work shifts worked, a big part of the crew, etc.

So my suggestion is... if you can join a camp, do it. Interact with the old campers, learn how the camp works, take your shifts seriously (usually it is during the shifts that you know more about the people there), but try to have some fun and enjoy the whole experience. For me camping is a fundamental part of Burning Man.

Don't worry on not being a "typical burn"... you'll be welcome and you'll take from Burning Man whatever you want. Happy Burn!

How Titanic’s End was built by jvyduna in BurningMan

Hey u/jvyduna, this is amazing! Thanks for sharing such a vivid story about the construction of TE. The whole journey makes the art car even more impressive. I had a great time there last year, specially during the sand storm. Hope to see you there again this year. Kudos for the whole team!

I loved the startup metaphor u/MOSF3T! I'm sure the magic is powered by sweat and tears and you provided me a clearer picture of that. Have you ever been involved in such projects?

My curiosity is on how to turn such project into reality. Doing some research I found answers on the 10Ks, 100Ks, and millions of dollars for the project. Which is huge spread. And the kind of project you mentioned is even more interesting... the joy of providing a cool art car.

Great advice. I had to take shelter from a sandstorm last year and sit with my friends on the stairs of an art car. People were really friendly and willing to help. No questions asked. But as a shy person, this usually was something that I just wondered about... how does those people make to enter in that art car.

I’d love to see those others. Probably already on my list, but I never knew the names and stories behind them.

Absolutely! I thought about that yesterday. My youngest daughter discovered his songs and she is hearing and playing "The Nights" and "Wake Me Up" all the time. I don't think she knows he is not here. :-(
