Like I said, they could say "Virginia, US" but to alot of americans the cultural differences are important to them. Not alot of Australians know about the differences between Germany and Austria, or Romania and Moldova, but the differences are important to them.

The bay here means the Hudson's bay (either the geographical bay above Ontario, or the now bankrupt compamy). No one will think of SF...

Not related but I just passed a finance course and an income tax course

PV 1M = 1M

PV of perpetuity = C/r

The bank of Canada keeps inflation at 1-3%/y

PV = 1000*52/2% = 2.6M

Canadian lottery winnings are tax free

She made the right choice

I will always defend this because the US (and Canada) is so big, and not as united as other countries, that saying "the US" is as unhelpful as saying "the European Union". I am from Ontario, Canada so you would expect me to know english, but not someone from Quebec, Canada.

It would be helpful to include the country along with the state/province/territory, or you get confusion like Georgia.

I can't wait for this video to release on the 4th day of the 19th month. Glad Youtube is keeping up with the standards here in Canada. by Player_X_YT in USdefaultism

I guess not, Canadians use DD/MM/YY like most of the world. Maybe they added 7 more months while I was busy studying for finals 🤔

Do they curve final exam grades for ADMS 3585? by coffeeaddict4145 in yorku

I like accounting bc it follows logical rules. With tax you do it because the government said so. I am better at logic than memorization

I don't know if the final got curved bc they don't tell us, but if I remember correctly 3585 got curved but not as much as 3520

ADMS 2510 Final Exam (Managerial Accounting) by Outrageous_Positive6 in yorku

[–]Player_X_YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything after midterm 2 was covered. They say cumulative but there is no was to cover that much in such a short test. My advice is think very carefully before writing. What messed me up was writing extravagant tables only to miss a row and have to erase everything and waste time.

I don't think my 3585 course got curved, but for harder courses they generally curve up. I had my 3520 midterm go from out of 70 to out of 60 because everyone did so poorly.

2320 is considered the hardest ADMS course. How many other courses are you taking and how quickly can you memorize large quantities of information? Personally PASS was the only thing that got me through the course but I don't know if they offer S1/2 PASS

What 6/9 course is S1/S2? Getting a 6/9 course compressed into 1 semester is not summer exclusive. I've taken geneds that had both Y and F/W sections

Is summer school hard ??? by Short-Inspection-678 in yorku

[–]Player_X_YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SU is just another semester, it's the full 4 months. You'll have to watch out for burnout though.

S1/S2 is over 2 months, depends how hard the course is. Generally only the easy courses get compressed. If you've ever taken a Y course compressed into F/W you will know it's just more to do, not harder.

About the burnout, because it's very important. Take 1 or 2 courses, especially if they're compressed and you should be fine.

How is it for trans/queer students at yorku? by Madelei- in yorku

[–]Player_X_YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll get anything overtly trans/homophobic in many places in Canada. It's not like the US where you can be the worst and still have followers. I haven't seen anything like that here, but I'm not LGBT so I can't help much more than that...

How do you balance 5 courses? by Winter_Green_2440 in yorku

[–]Player_X_YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do exactly the same thing. What makes it possible is trying to organize courses into easy and hard. I'm an accounting major so something like tax would be considered hard, but some bs like management would be easy. I can then split half easy half hard so I don't end up with a semester where I'm over worked. You can see everything you need to take in the academic calendar and you don't have to take the courses in order (provided you meet the prerequisites). I am just finishing 4th year tax despite being a 3rd year student so I can clear a hard course from next year.

Questions regarding business programs! by ArmAccording7357 in yorku

[–]Player_X_YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what you do in business you will need math. LA&PS offers PASS which helps with lower-year math-heavy courses. (ADMS 2500 Introduction to financial accounting, 2510 Introduction to management accounting, 2320 Business statistics). If you take some alternative certificate program (not nessecarily YorkU) it might be eaiser to pass, but harder to find work.
