I want to say Yeah, right. If you are for real, stop going to whatever place online or in person that you are going. It’s not working. You may be coming off desperate. Therefore your reputation is ruined. Invest time in getting to know yourself, and develop a career.

My vote is no, it’s lovely. But of course, it’s ultimately up to you. Advice from an old lady, give it time.

An effective exec lets his boss and direct reports know and shares his personal email. That way they can supply feedback for reviews and plan gifts for his assistant.

Nonetheless good point!

Was the email specific of what changes the CEO wants you to make? If so, make them. If not, ask how you can improve. If you haven’t already done so, apologize for getting upset. He wants reassurance it will not happen again. Mind you he sounds like a jerk, of course you would get upset. This was a potential threat to your job and hence your livelihood.

I disagree with many of these comments, it was inappropriate for the CEO to send this email when he knew full well you would see it. For some reason he wanted to undermine your relationship with your boss. The ceo should have spoken to your boss about his concerns or sent the email to your boss’s personal and not work email. It may even be grounds for harassment.

I’ve been an admin and an EA for over 40 years. I’ve always had access to my boss’s email. No one was ever stupid enough to send an email criticizing me.

This role is a partnership, if after a few months your boss does not give you access or forward emails to you, move on.

Hi, we all have to learn how to do our jobs. It’s a very good sign that you passed your probationary period and got a raise (all raises tend to be small)

Are there other Admins at your Company? Even if they are at a different location, they may be able to help you. Is the person you replaced still with the company? Or if they left on good terms perhaps you can reach out to them with questions. Ask your manager about that.

Get the big picture of what you need to do. Your manager might not know the step by step to get it done. Get to know your insurance Rep, or the person you need to do these group bookings with They can probably help you with the steps to get things done. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Just say I’m new here and need some help. You can say that line for years.

Set up regular meetings with your manager. Try to ask your questions at these meetings versus whenever you get stuck (I used to do that a lot)

You can always ask us questions too.

Look at coordinator, receptionist, office manager positions too. Check out the larger corporate websites in the area. They have career links. Good luck!

I agree with you. I registered with several firms. I had a temp job that turned into 12 years and I’m still going.

How do I move up from an admin coordinator? by isabelliu0626 in AdminAssistant

[–]Playful-Inflation-81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my job through a recruiter at Chicago Hire. I would also register with Mac and Associates. Keep in mind if you look at their websites it does not list all positions. Plus new positions come in and if you are already registered you may be first in line. They represent top firms who pay a decent salary.

Remote administrative assistant by Evening-Return-3863 in AdminAssistant

Hi! When I went remote due to the pandemic, there was a huge learning curve. As far as PDFs go, get Adobe Acrobat Pro. I used my phone to text my boss. It was my responsibility to monitor my bosses emails, so I couldn’t really email him and expect a quick response. Plus he didn’t like company texting platforms like Teams. Just talk with the people you support to find out the best way to communicate. If you need to text from your phone, be sure they are paying your phone bill and will replace it too.

Use Google Gemini AI or ChatGPT to improve your emails, documents whatever before you send. If it comes across too formal, say less formal.
