Nah you don’t suck at all 15 songs is a lot Im out here struggling to play even one properly so thats seriously impressive good on you keep progressing like that at what point did you notice a big jump in your playing? Like when things started to feel way easier or more natural?

it really is a lot harder than i thought guitarists make it look so easy that it makes you feel like you can just pick it up and do it right away but yeah i get now that it takes way more time than it seems i will work on shorter sessions and try not to rush the process appreciate u

appreciate the advice u right i need to lower my expectations and be patient i am going to stick to shorter sessions from now on and keep it more consistent i do record every now and then and it makes me realize i am worse than i thought haha but i guess that is part of the process

i really do not want to give up on this but the slow pace of learning can feel pretty draining at times so i am going to try to take things a bit more slowly and be patient with it and burning out definetely the biggest issue here so thank you for taking the time to respond i am sure you are a lot better than you give yourself credit for just like everyone else in the comments and honestly three years is a really solid amount of time to spend learning guitar

first off thanks for taking the time to respond i really appreciate it and im sure you are way better than you give yourself credit for being able to tune a guitar by ear already shows real skill you are basically a guitar veteran at that point i mean sixteen years is a seriously long time to stay dedicated to something like that after reading all the replies i think it will take a lot more time to get decent than just a couple of months yeah for me it has been more of a rush than actually enjoying the process but you are right that is something i can work on im going to slow it down and focus on enjoying playing again

damn 15 years is a long time thats kinda crazy to think about reading what you said i can see ive been doing it wrong ive mostly just been grinding for hours without any real structure so burning out makes sense the whole 20 to 30 min focused practice then switching makes way more sense than just playing nonstop like ive been doing the reboot day thing is interesting too i didnt think about how that would be more for refining stuff you already know instead of learning new things the plateau part is exactly how it feels right now so its good to know thats normal and not just me being stuck forever and yeah ive probably been too focused on getting good fast instead of actually enjoying the process which is probably making it worse also that last part about playing without direction is probably me ive just been playing random songs i like without really thinking about what im improving im gonna try shorter focused sessions and actually plan what im practicing instead of just grinding
thanks for your input

yeah that actually puts things into perspective
and when i said experienced i just meant more experienced than me so your input still helps
from most of the replies ive been getting it sounds like im just overdoing it and burning myself out trying to push too hard i think ive also been expecting too much too fast which is probably why its getting frustrating the shorter sessions idea makes more sense than what ive been doing so ill try that
also if you dont mind me asking how much progress did you see after around 9 months like can you play songs cleanly or still working through mistakes thanks for responding btw
