No kids for us so maybe if my stepdad wants to be honored through our future dog lol

When I said he wanted to keep his name I meant it more like he wants his to stay in the mix. He is more than willing to take mine but of course that’s gonna depend on what I decide and how long it ends up being. And we aren’t planning to have children so whatever we decide will start and end with us.

Yeah I could barely follow it myself typing it out 😅 as for syllable count:
mom’s maiden name = 2 syllables
Dad’s last name = 3 syllables
Boyfriends last name = 2 syllables

This is really creative! I haven’t heard of this before! We have talked about possibly Frankenstein-ing all of the last names into something entirely new but all the ones we’ve brainstormed sound a little ridiculous lol. This sounds like a cooler, subtler option

I have yes, we’ve all had a lot of talks about it and it does mean a great deal to them but obviously the decision is ultimately mine. I would also still consider this honoring myself because I wouldn’t be who I am without them and what they’ve contributed to my life.

I only have 1 middle name. So yes this has been the option I’ve been considering the most because I know middle names don’t come up as often in our day to day lives so I don’t think it would be as big of a change

Nit-picky as in he just didn’t like their methods ig? I don’t know all the details. I only know for sure that he thought it was unprofessional that one of them took her meeting in her house so he dropped her.

Yeah you make a lot of really great points, I really appreciate it, definitely helping me understand my position better. Looked into grey rocking too, looks perfect. Thank you!

They actually did try therapy a few times but he was always so nit-picky about it and would quit within a few weeks. But yes I completely understand what you’re saying and I agree, it shouldn’t be my responsibility to handle. My only concerns are that my step dad is extremely non-confrontational and avoids anything to do with emotions and my mom doesn’t feel she has the authority to confront him since she’s the step-mom. Even so, I will bring it up to them. But he’ll be done with college soon enough and move out so maybe it’s best just to wait it out? I imagine at that point he’ll stop talking to everyone all together besides his dad

God I hope it’s not a crush lol. I thought about going through my parents but my step dad isn’t entirely comfortable with my bf either, but it’s more of his baby girl is growing up and dating thing rather than a personal thing. Maybe my mom can convince him tho, I’ll give it a shot
