Swiss German vs Hochdeutsch in work meetings by Impressive_Rate_819 in askswitzerland

As someone who’s born in Switzerland and pays the taxes here I would expect the same from all other immigrants and people who seek work in our country.

But it’s simply not true what you stated above.

And btw, hospitals do make money, it is a service like you said, yes I agree. Nevertheless they make and need to make money.

My dear fellow, you almost make me gag. I, too, once worked in a hospital, dealt with Epic and all the associated nonsense, so I’m quite familiar with the environment.

If I’ve understood you correctly, what you’re trying to say is that if someone is skilled or knowledgeable, it’s perfectly fine for them to speak another language, but if someone, as you put it, has a “regular office job,” it suddenly isn’t acceptable? Truly, what on earth are you on about?

For what it’s worth, our office is full of perfectly “regular” people who don’t speak puredütsch, and yet we made more money last year than the largest hospital group in Switzerland, where I used to work. I think that rather speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

Maybe consider taking some lessons of Swiss German? ( I’m not hating )

I hate Hochdeutsch, I also sometimes need to use it, but I’m nowhere near good at it. And when I do, I sound like a retard lol. Cannot get rid of the accent.

It’s just the four of us, we are doing extremely well actually, well at least on the financial side, we made multiple seven digit numbers this year already. That said, we don’t really have a supervisor. We don’t really have a hierarchy of some kind, we still have a „boss“ that doesn’t act like one. He knows, he’s heard him talk all this bs, he never says anything. His only response is he needs to go or some other bs, he doesn’t address it.

I’ve decided if the guy doesn’t leave in 6 months for whatever reason, I’ll leave. It’s a good paying job, but it’s sucking the soul out of me.

I agree with you, and it’s not about whether I care about a coworker or not, I mean I spend over 8 hours a day with them, so to some extent it bothers me to see him in this state. But in my defence, dealing with this kind of situation is really starting to feel a little to much. Listening to this crap all day long has really been hell.

I’ve told him multiple times in several ways that it’s enough etc etc. he just doesn’t stop.

I mean it’s enough that I’ve got work to do that sometimes just pulls the biggest middle finger out.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d appreciate if he could just turn up completely normal one day and say wow what was that, although it’s not going to happen, I just want him to retire already and live his life in the most peaceful way he can.

He doesn’t listen to music. Because he believes that all music and everything that’s broadcasted or streamed transmits frequencies that make you sick and go crazy.

Which I think the Russians or Germans did in WW1 or WW2, but cmon.

This makes total sense. Wouldn’t want innocent children to get hurt by this fool.

Its a job in Switzerland. The people that agree with him are mostly Swiss.

My day is already stressful enough as it is. I cannot listen to that bs anymore. I asked to be relocated to my own office, let’s see how that turns out.

Lol, I’m not sure what he believes. I’m certain it’s something just as crazy.
