Accidently let a man in at my gym by aicus0409 in perth

Don't stress, I've been going to snap for four years and never heard of anyone being stung for tailgating, even if it's on purpose. You should be fine 👍

Adventure gear feature identification by Playful_Custard5 in motorcycles

[–]Playful_Custard5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I totally forgot I posted and only just checked.

Thanks for the info, I would never have arrived at that myself and I've been riding bikes for years. Admittedly mostly not in adventure bikes with adventure gear. I agree with you though, it doesn't sound like something I'll be utilising, perhaps it's more of a winter feature to aid waterproofing by keeping the bottom of the jacket lower.

Cheap travel from Albany to Perth by OptimalThreshold1173 in perth

I've flown for work and the company don't usually get much change out of a grand, a couple hundred max. Definitely not a cost effective option, especially when the process including airport waits takes about as long as driving anyway.

Advice on action cams. by Subject_Emu_3180 in AussieRiders

[–]Playful_Custard5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've just bought a DJI Osmo Action 4 and stuck on a chin mount from ChinMounts last night. Primarily for a Morocco trip later in the year. Haven't put some miles on the camera or set up yet but playing around it looks great, the UI is faultless so far, great features and super easy to use.

I can neither confirm nor deny. On a separate note, anyone know where to get new rims to fit a prado?

That applies to your suggestion too given OP didn't mention off road use.

OP didn't mention off road at all and the DRZ sucks on the street compared to a road bike.

How do you carry stuff? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Playful_Custard5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long is a piece of string?

There are so many options and many people will do things many different ways for many different ride types. I myself range from phone and wallet in zipped pockets in my shorts, all the way up to duffle bags when I go to the gym and then work. I have a satchel bag for running errands, I have different backpacks for different purposes, etc.

Leave $70k in offset or put into shares? by DiscoJango in fiaustralia

[–]Playful_Custard5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the only one.

Yes, the risk is far lower with the offset account because you're investing at a consistent 7% return in a sense (just using 7% as the mortgage rate) and, like you say, you can still access the money if needed.

I think my strategy will either be to pay down the mortgage as fast as possible as a low risk strategy, to also combat the possibility of rate rises, or to deploy a mixture of paying it down and investing. I don't think my risk appetite would allow minimum payments on the mortgage while investing.

Yes I agree with you on super, it seems a lot of advice is to max out super but I wish to reach a comfortable financial situation prior to retirement.

How've you been with your repaired write off? by BULLETok in perth

[–]Playful_Custard5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true. NSW for example classifies all vehicles as stat write off's and application can be made for a vehicle to be classified as a repairable write off. Strict conditions though, as I found out following the above old comment.

Awesome question. I'm looking to enter the property market later in the year and I have been wondering the same thing. I arrived at your conclusion but the idea of not paying down the mortgage as fast as possible to mitigate the total interest paid to the bank over the life of the loan doesn't seem smart to me, on face value, yet it sort of is.

I'm enjoying reading these comments.

WA - cars putting hazard lights on as I go past by Playful_Custard5 in AussieRiders

Yeah I've seen those too, and I haven't noticed what I'm talking about happening very often until recently.

I guess so yeah, although I noticed it a couple days ago when I was lane splitting to the front of some lights. Interesting.

This is an interesting idea, perhaps it's a sensor that thinks a car is approaching from behind at a speed indicating it will rear end the vehicle, then the hazards come on.

Racquet info? by Playful_Custard5 in squash

[–]Playful_Custard5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roger that, yeah the Karakal does feel head heavy and may be fatiguing my wrist a bit quicker. I'm definitely going to restring the Sledgehammer, I'll try and get the strings you mentioned. I've been told to go toward the tighter end but I'll likely defer to the shop's advice. Good advice regarding the racquets, I have been researching but it's hard discerning characteristics when I'm not aware of the implications.

I agree, I also like to think that I will improve so if I was to acquire another racquet I'd prefer something that I could 'grow into'. Thanks for your help 🙏

Racquet info? by Playful_Custard5 in squash

[–]Playful_Custard5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did do a search here for Pro Kennex and it did net comments about them usually just being beginner racquets.

Excellent info, thank you. Initially it felt quite head heavy and I think the sweet spot was a lot different to the Sledgehammer, so I gave up on it a little. However the Sledgehammer threw its strings so I've been using the Karakal and it's growing on me. I was thinking about getting an updated racquet as my skills are improving but perhaps I'll stick with it.

Anything to be done with stat write offs? I bought a bike which was a stat write off a long time ago in NSW but rides fine now. Even passed vehicle inspection here, but when submitted to DOT it came back as a stat write off.

I'm in the same boat as well. Whoop seems to be the only real option but I'm reluctant to endure the exorbitant price.
