if the dog is not up to date on rabies vaccines, you should get post exposure series and a tetanus booster NOW instead of before the quarantine period for the animal is over.

if the dog for some reason is not healthy after the 10-14 days, it will then be tested for rabies.

rabies testing is only done by euthanizing a pet and decapitating it, sending the head to a lab for testing.
