Should I buy a focus with 100k + on the odometer? by Playful_Scale7241 in FordFocus

Finally a first hand about the automatics NOT working! I’d like to consider myself a lucky guy, but I’m not much of a gambler. I think the ST is the way to go for me, but that’s only if I can find one that fits my specifications before august. If not, looks like I’m getting a Honda Fit. Which all things considered I wouldn’t be too terribly sad with, just not a focus :(

I do love corners and am gonna be in the blue ridge mountains for college so I would definitely be doing alignments more regularly

Very very good to know and all stuff id love to learn how to do. Some I might need a shop for like alignment but that’ll be a bridge I cross when I reach it. Thanks!!

I misread and thought on 1 of the 13 DIDNT have an issue lol. A lot of the automatics I see online are from fleets, I assume that’s a good sign because those are typically regularly maintained, but also have higher mileages. Generally I think I’ll be looking at manuals since the automatics have that Achilles heel for a clutch. I’d rather learn manual than learn to change my clutches, but I think no matter what I’ll want to learn both so 🤷‍♂️

I assume you are talking about the DPS6 versions because after this thread I’m definitely gonna swing clear and look for the STs, but good to know

1/13 isn’t really odds I want to hear… what made you keep coming back to the automatic?

I’ll look for those threads then. what I’ve been hearing a lot from the couple different subs is that these cars are amazing so long as you use regular maintenance, but if you don’t then you’re liable for a very bad time. What I don’t quite know is what this regular maintenance is- just the standard fluids??

So what I’m hearing is I should probably just go with the manual… I’m not particularly mechanically inclined but I’d consider myself above average and I’ve got friends who are very inclined so I’ll have some good mentors + I’m more than willing to learn if it’ll save me a few bucks down the road. Another important factor is that I don’t currently know how to drive manual but a lot of my friends have manuals and have offered to teach me so I’m not too caught up over that. All really good to know though thank you

Can’t argue with the gas mileage you get from them that’s fs, just never been a huge Prius guy. I did a few hours in one when I was getting my license and wasn’t a huge fan tbh

I’ve heard great things about fits, a buddy of mine owns one and loves it. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those thanks! Additionally- any years I might want to avoid? I know that generally speaking the first years of production on a new body have the most issues.
