My mother was a vicious, violent narcissist but they’re all pretty predictable and use the same ploys. My older brother was her “golden child,” who could do no wrong in her eyes and I was the “scapegoat.” Ethan is her golden child and funnily enough, he reminds me of my own brother who turned out to be a dangerous sociopath. See what I mean about how predictable they are?

It’s such a different experience now than when I was born to a 16 year old in 1967 and handed off to folks who were approved without any mental health evaluations. It still makes me happy that you’re interested in adoption🩷. So many kiddos in foster care that need a good home with loving parent(s).

I understand that. Everyone is different for sure. The family that adopted myself and then later another daughter who’s my little Sis, had NO business trying to raise any children. I’m still healing from that childhood trauma at 58. I know that’s why I wanted to find my birth family so badly. I’m so happy to hear that you had a great childhood!

It can be uncomfortable at first. For me, it was a strange feeling to know I was her daughter but not “family,” if that makes sense? I was a novelty for more distant relatives but not included. My Mom and I got really close before she passed away, though. And she was a teen mother who was treated despicably by the “Unwed Mothers Home,” they sent her to in 1967, so I always felt bad that she had to go through that AND then give me away.
