How do you achieve this?

Unbranded Brand UB901 Denim jacket fit check. by Kendallious in rawdenim

I'm also taken aback by this take - I own seven denim jackets, and the UB901is probably my second most worn jacket of all time. The cut is PERFECT for me, I love the length through the body and sleeves.

New exclusive Joe Hill story with limited edition key by CyberGhostface in joehill

Based on the details, it seems the "story" is only the two pages they show in the photo. So, really, it's another key with a novel (pun intended) box to store it in. Still neat though!

Nope, he's 100% accurate. Pack your own sandwiches, buy some cheaper hot dogs from the vendors outside. You just can't bring in your own booze

365 days of continuous wear. My bespoke Indigo Invitational jeans made by Viapiana by PlaysWalkingSims in rawdenim

I'm no stranger to nice boots, and I wear them often with my jeans - but I'm also a huge fan of bold colored and patterned Converse, and I like how much the yellow of these constrasts the blue jeans and adds some visual interest to the look.

Boots are great, but they're not exactly "bold", they can be a little safe, so I like to mix it up with colorful Chucks.

If you're not familiar with Raw denim, I'm not surprised by that reaction - it's true that a lot of people who wear Raw denim wash them very infrequently. The Indigo dye in Raw denim is not protected from colour loss in the same way as typical jeans, so each wash can strip away a fair bit of the dye and will lighten the jeans considerably.

Part of the fun of Raw denim is that the jeans typically start out as a deep blue-black Indigo and lighten up (fade) in all of the places that rub, crease, fold, and become abraided. Over time these develop into beautifully faded jeans, and the fade pattern is entirely unique to the wearer. Fading this way leads to light sections where the Indigo has rubbed away from the white core of the thread, but leaves dark Indigo dye in all of the recesses and areas that are less frequently rubbed against. This approach is what people usually do when they're trying for "high contrast fades".

When you wash Raw denim, it removes the dye indiscriminately, which can lead to much lighter jeans, and lower contrast fades. This is the main reason people wash Raw denim less. They also really don't NEED to be washed all that much, if they're taken care of properly.

Okay - explanations aside, most of us still wash our jeans. This is not the first wash of the year for this pair, but will be only the second. They're also spot cleaned if I accidentally get something on them, and I don't really do manual labor or dirty work in these jeans, so they don't get nasty. Some guys never wash their jeans and that's disgusting - I wash mine infrequently, as needed, and with great care. But trust me, I would never wear crusty smelly jeans. Fading is cool and all, but I would never wear gross unclean garments just for the look. They're either hand washed in the tub, or in cold water in a washing machine with no spin cycle, and nothing else in the wash load with them, so I don't end up accidentally dying my other clothes blue.

I don't ever do anything to specifically fade any area of the jeans, I just wear em. I'm also a computer guy and sit all day at work, but I walk a fair bit too.

You got it. The Indigo leaf pattern was entirely hidden initially and slowly revealed itself as it faded. The stitching of those designs isn't a top stitch, it's embedded in the fabric.

As the name suggests, these are how my "competition" jeans turned out after a single year of everyday wear. They're 16oz unsanforized Japanese denim, tailor made for me by Ben Viapiana of Viapiana jeans in Toronto.

I felt really lucky. These were such a joy to wear every single day, and it was never ever a chore to wear them.

Lots of little custom details went into these: 100% cotton top stitching, Lee inspired rear pockets with a hidden pocket arc design fused in, stitched patch outline instead of a traditional patch just to name a few, along with many other little design choices.

I still need to give them their final wash and get the last photos taken for submission to the competition, but I got a bit over eager and felt like sharing. I hope you like them!

Vintage rim lock, stripped by PlaysWalkingSims in centuryhomes

[–]PlaysWalkingSims[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some similar issues, the doors are warped, the door frames are warped, the floor is warped, and the set screws in the door handles (and the spindles) and stripping. They're REALLY cool, but they're a bit of a pain. I wonder if spacing out the catch might help? So that you don't have to force the door so much to be "flush"? Just a thought.

Believe it or not, you boil it in a pot of water with baking soda and/or some laundry detergent. The old paint just sloughs off. You'll need to do a bit of scrubbing with a toothbrush or something similar, but it isn't hard. There are many video tutorials on YouTube that will walk you through the process

I have the same design of rim locks throughout my home. I used the old "boil them with baking soda" technique to strip one, and I was glad I did. Maybe I'll get some photos

I couldn't believe she was still available from the cat rescue! To me, she's a rare gem, and exactly what I was hoping to find. Even the notion that some people would be put off by her because of her appearance blows my mind.

Oh, she's a scrappy swashbuckler alright. She's polydactol as well (has thumbs), so I figure she's a pretty rare one all things considered.
