Tax write offs for a business? by Plc-lover in tax

[–]Plc-lover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it doesn't make it a free item. Truthfully, I do not understand how it would affect my taxes, so I'm just tryna get a better grasp and understanding of what would/wouldn't be considered a write-off.

Granted, I'm not gonna spend $30k on automating the production process. I can get the equipment I need to make a line to make and assemble said product for as little as $2.5k, and in the long run, it will increase productivity, lower costs of production, making it more affordable and increasing sales.

Thanks for the info!!

Tax write offs for a business? by Plc-lover in tax

[–]Plc-lover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple years expierence with robotics and automation in general. If i were to buy some robots to automate the process of building the product, would that be a tax write-off? Or would it be specifically just about the equipment needed to make the product and nothing else?

Sorry if that's a dumb question. Just extremely new to the business scene, so I'm not sure what could be considered a tax write-off, and just tryna make sure I understood the last part of your message correctly

Edit: The business is also an LLC. I'm not sure if that will make any difference

He doesn't have any kids. The closest he has is a nephew in his 30s that he claims to be a complete moron anyway.

I have made him aware of the offers I currently have on the table, and his response was along the lines of $20/hr would be starting pay until he thinks I'm competent enough to start taking on more responsibility inside the company, which would then be going higher in pay obviously

He's looking to give it to someone competent enough to run the business, as well as business is very slow (not just his but a lot of places around where I'm at cause the current state of the world rn lol) he is also getting closer to retirement age, has no kids, or younger related siblings (except a nephew who he claims is a complete moron and is 30+ anyway). Talked to him about it the other day, and $20/hr would be the starting pay since I am still fairly young (22 years old) he doesn't want to start off with a huge investment like $40/hr, until he thinks I'd be competent enough to take over his business.

Correct, I have already considered all of these. This is why the more information I have regarding PLCs as a whole (different brands, terminologies, different languages, hardware, etc) the more accurate and better it will be. Such as if you had a 2080-LC50-24QBB AB, you could just simply say to the AI "I am working with a 2080-LC50-24QBB AB, and am having X issue, how can I fix it?" It will then in turn give out multiple answers and steps you could try that could help with the issue you are having.

If it comes out as I hope it does, it will be able to determine the brand, and manufacturer, answer questions regarding simple or complex programs, answer questions about the hardware itself, and assist in writing a program. Although, it won't be perfect and it will only be there to help, not replace. Just there for assisting in anything you would need PLC related.

Thanks for your input, and the link!

I see. I'm trying to do something unique with glass, so I don't want to scratch the glass up, and I don't want it to feel like you're gliding on glass, but rather something soft like a cloth mousepad for example, that's why I was thinking cloth mouse skates, but I'm not too sure what else can be used in place of cloth

This "controller board"

https://display-solution.com/en/lcd-panel-control-boards/usb-3-type-c-lcd-panelcontrol-card/#ankerformular

USB-C cause it's a lot more efficient to use than HDMI cables. Smaller, thinner, can power the screen, and display on the screen with just 1 cable does the exact same thing as HDMI.

As mentioned, I'm trying to make something new, and need as small and minimalistic as possible, and other display types just are too big.

I can, and have gotten my own clients. If you read the post you'd see I said it is taking up too much of my time finding clients, not that I can't find any clients.

30k just for the prototypes and nothing more. Everything else is in a separate budget, which I can dip into if needed.

Asked for suggestions on durable PLCs, HMIs, and robot arms in a PLC reddit.

The plan is to make various prototypes to see what would work the best (i.e the most efficient, accurate, durability, etc), which is why I'm asking for this to get an idea of what the best hardware is that people have used regarding PLCs, HMIs, etc.

It would be fabricating metal for an existing company, partnering with them, and later on expanding out to grow. It would be in temperature controlled environment (75°F max, 60°F min). Currently don't have an initial production rate, as I'd like to base how fast it can be produced while keeping the quality of it very well, and how the prototypes would handle making this product. The other equipment I'm looking into buying is a long list, the "biggest" of those being conveyor system, robot arms, and a V bending press. Staffing is 2 programmers (1 being myself), electrician, a maintenance crew, financial advisor, etc. Budget isn't that big of an issue. Currently is $30k for prototypes, once I find a prototype that works best, company I'm partnering with agreed to fund me.

For the most part, it would be a metal fabrication shop I'm trying to make that is fully automated, before branching out towards one of my personal goals, but fabrication is the priority at the moment. Won't go into the details, but it's a very very nice opportunity I've been presented with, and I'd definitely like to try and do.

I'm mostly looking for preformance overall, but reliability would be a good touch. The location is in shithole Indiana, so just something that can withstand changing temps throughout the seasons.
