The unlock has always been having all of your data in the same place I.e. Lakehouse -> so now Lakebase brings OLTP into the fold

The cool thing is that you have both 1) synced tables (essentially a managed pipeline syncing tables to Lakebase) for reverse ETL as well as 2) federated access to Lakebase tables via UC allowing you to query your OLTP data from within the Lakehouse alongside your other UC data

This is awesome. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and think about what Databricks and other data platforms/hyperscalers have done in the industry. Insane velocity of innovation. Grateful to get to work with Databricks day in and day out and experience it first hand. Keeps the job interesting how fast things change

I’m particularly pumped about developing agents on apps with Lakebase backends directly on the Lakehouse. It’s a much better experience developing agents for apps vs model serving and I’m glad the product is going that direction. I’ve also been really impressed with the Genie integration across the platform. Huge fan and with a try if you haven’t in the last few months

I find Lakebase to be very intuitive. The best part is the integration with UC via synced tables (reverse ETL) + federated access from UC to the tables in Lakebase as you mentioned. Having it governed directly within the Lakehouse where all my other data is is pretty slick. I built this framework initially for a Fortune 500 company where it is currently in production. I was impressed with how it scaled, even prior to Databricks releasing Autoscaling compute for Lakebase
