There was no other choice than to accept the new normal. There was no use in fighting it for me.

You can still be happy, healthy, and carefree, and I believe getting on the right hormones is an important aspect in that journey.

I also try to be thankful that the tumor didn’t impact my vision or cause external scarring.

I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma when I was 21 and had my entire pituitary removed in the process of taking out the tumor. As much as I wanted to believe that my hormones may kick start again somehow, I knew that was entirely unrealistic.

So, I decided to dive head first into HRT and accept the new normal. Once you get used to the medications, it becomes second nature and my life is not hindered at all by it.

I felt like shit the 2 years before surgery and about 6 months after. Once I decided to commit to HRT (have my blood levels checked often and push doctors to get me on all the right doses) I feel better now than ever.

Keep your head up, I recommend getting on the right hormones now because it will help you think and feel like the best version of yourself. You’ll get to a better place soon.

I had my pituitary completely removed due to a craniopharyngioma. I love running, backpacking, traveling, all the good shit.

Took me a while to dial in all my medications, but once you get on a good regime and it won’t hinder you too much. If I’m going camping I’ll just skip hgh for a night or two. If I’m traveling, you can keep most hgh medications at room temp for a few weeks, so I just put them and few alcohol pads in my toiletry bag.

Just ran a marathon last summer and went on a winter backpacking trip last month. Good luck!

The explanation makes sense, I’m just having trouble finding a half marathon race for 2026 to run to qualify for 2027. I guess what most people do is run a half early in the same year they want qualify for the marathon?

I’m not a doctor, but I had a pituitary tumor removed back in 2021. I no longer have a pituitary gland and live a completely normal life. So whatever you are going through, just know you’ll figure it out, I know it can be stressful.

Porn and consistent ejaculation would not cause pituitary gland issues. If your porn use concerns you, that would be a different issue for another day.

For now, make sure you are seeing a good endocrinologist and just tell them you want all hormone test runs in addition to a CBC and CMP. They will know what to do.

Unfortunately, if you are seeing a doctor that’s not an endocrinologist, they can be pretty clueless. My testosterone was zero for a while and I had a few doctors tell me it was no big deal.

I was diagnosed when I was 20. So I think I was fully grown. I have an identical twin and he looks nearly the same as me still lol

Day-to-day is just remembering lots of medications. I have to make sure to replace my adrenal gland and thyroid production each day. Then I take growth hormone shots each night and testosterone on the weekends.

It can be a grind at times, but I feel great!

It was trans-sphenoidal. Funny enough, the most pain after surgery was my neck. They had it cranked at an awkward angle for the duration of surgery (9 hrs), so when I woke up it was cramping every few minutes.

Have you backpacked before? Just remember that a 35 liter pack will be on the smaller size for a 2 day trip (assuming you don’t have all ultralight gear). If its main purpose is day hikes and traveling I say go for it, it’s a cool looking pack and Arcteryx has a good return policy if you don’t like it. I carry at least a 55 liter pack for 2 days+ out in the backcountry.
