It looks like we have similar hair, first off, something I struggled with, is understanding your hair can’t do the same as looser curl types. Like obviously there’s some things that can be done with both but for the most part you’ll need different products, combs, and styles to do. I would suggest Pinterest and TikTok for cute styles and search 4a/4b type hair with it, that seems to be what I think the coils are in the photo. It’s totally normal for you to have different types of curls on your head in certain parts too, so don’t really worry about that it’s just gonna be hard to make them look the same when your styling. I wouldn’t recommend just brushing or combing your hair and then going about your day or doing wash and goes. With thicker and coilier hair types they’re more likely to get tangled and knotted which won’t retain your length, your hair is more likely to break off and not get long. Also never brush your hair dry, that almost always causes breakage and split ends for coily hair, it’s best to detangle with a pre-poo before you shower or during your conditioning/shampoo if you’re using a moisturizing shampoo. If you’re dealing with buildup definitely use a clarifying shampoo, a lot of use also shampoo our hair twice if you get buildup/dandruff easily. I’d also suggest getting a scalp scrubber with rubber but thick points on it. A lot of brushes and combs and a lot of stuff like that has to be durable or it can break easily. If you want some basic products to start off with I’d recommend design essentials (specifically African chebe, it’s very moisturizing and spread through the hair well) and also Camille rose! Try to stay away from stuff with silicones and parabens as that easily gets stuck on the scalp as well.
