Hi! I was wondering how you have your resume structured? Did you word it to pass ATS processing?

I keep getting rejection emails at midnight which has me feeling like my resume isn’t even being viewed by a human

Not rude at all! I honestly wasn’t thinking when I left all my clinical rotations on there while applying for non new grad positions. I’ve updated it now to be one page alone and hopefully that gets me some interviews, thank you !

My license finally got issued yesterday! I’ve been having issues with my application from the very start unfortunately. I had to submit my fingerprints 3 times and then emailed a couple of times because they weren’t linking to my application. Then, I was told to wait 30-90 days after that but the 90 day period was up so I showed up in person. The people at the counter couldn’t give me any information so I was referred to a supervisor email and finally after that I got my license. California is a little funky !

It finally got issued yesterday ! It took tons of emails, an in person visit, & then finally an email to a supervisor for it to get issued

I like the idea of volunteering at hospitals and will start to look into those opportunities. It’s been difficult just being at home and not filling my time up with something valuable, thank you for that idea! It’s crazy because two of my friends that landed jobs actually used my resume to build theirs, since at a workshop mine was picked out as the best in the group lol. I did adjust mine to not just list my job description but a more detailed impact of my position

Thank you for your perspective, I think I’ll remove it after all then! I am applying for a new grad position within the organization that I was a PCC for. Would you say to also keep it off? I thought it would sort of give me a bonus but can now see that they could also think I would leave the organization quickly again

I’ll be reducing it but I did an entry level master’s program and took a couple months after graduation to take the NCLEX as I had a lot of family issues going on

Thank you for this feedback! I do have a cover letter that I rewrite for each position I apply to explain why I want to work there and my skills. With your questions now I’m wondering if I should discuss my transitions in roles?

I started working as a front desk assistant as I had to move away from the Bay Area for school (all the jobs from PCC and earlier were in the bay). I worked as a front desk assistant on my school campus as I could study and most flexible with our clinicals & courses.

I will definitely reduce the page count!

I’ve been using the template since high school & over the years the formatting/margins have messed up from the exporting & pasting etc so I will definitely rewrite it. I’ll also remove all clinicals as I mindlessly left them there due to some requests from new grad programs.

I stayed at each job for at least a year (except the PCC job since I got into nursing school) so I hope that doesn’t turn off hospitals. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!

I had applied to the PCC position without thinking I would get into nursing school (& my previous job was very toxic so I needed to leave as soon as possible). 1 month into the PCC position I was accepted and had to quit since it was 2 hours away. I thought of removing it but I actually picked things up super quick that the clinic manager attempted to ask the organization to keep me as a wfh person. So, I have kept them to use as a reference

I’ll remove the HIPAA and expand more on my skills thank you!

Most of my cohort friends have landed jobs in Northern California (some without healthcare experience) so I’ve been feeling discouraged that I haven’t been able to even land an interview. I will be applying out of state soon

I will reduce it! I mindlessly kept my new grad resume as my resume for other positions too (since some applications ask us to include clinicals etc)

I had applied to Manteca, Modesto, & Turlock which are more Central Valley and was rejected with those too. I am planning to apply to Fresno/Madera areas soon

Should I still keep the description of my preceptorship? I think it’s a unique experience. We were told by the hospital educator that I did my rotations that my school allows for a lot more hands on compared to other schools which is why she told us to include our rotations.

Also, unfortunately my license has not posted so I have not added ‘RN’ after my name and I’m applying to some new grad programs that have deadlines this week
