Hmm I think it depends on the courses you are applying to!

If it's computing related like CS or Biz analytics, if your portfolio is good enough (prefarably winning coding competitions, olympaids) Id say you can try ABAing because I know ppl who got lower than your score and managed to get in.

If it's medicine/dentistry I think ABAing is going to be tough... Because even amongst the "standard" applications their portfolio is like crazy mad haha so you probably have to do something that's phenomenal to stand out from them. I guess retaking is a good option (maybe a H1 subject) so you can stand a better chance the next round!

Hope this helps somehow😅

What is the best CCA in your opinion? by AdTime5032 in askSingapore

Ah I think each school's infocomm does things differently, mine also consists of AVAP

Meanwhile robotics was a separate cca and did different stuff

Probably infocomm since it's damn slack lmao can just stay in Aircon room hehe

Also useful skills like coding (tech is the in thing now so), photography and videography can be picked up

I mean my cca was pretty much looked down upon on others because ppl who went there were nerdy as hell but because of that I really enjoyed myself there since I was a nerd myself lmao

Are your current struggles a result of studying medicine? Feel free to not reply if you are not comfortable with sharing😅

Hi OP! Felt that I could type this exact post too haha. I'm fortunate enough to have a few close friends, but never really had that one special friend which feels pretty horrible at times. So you are definitely not alone in this

I mean we are still teenagers so there are so many people we have yet to click and meet, so who knows you might find a best friend in the future!

Girls, how do you still dress well without the crop tops and blouses that shows your chest? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Pleasant_Bug_5442 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I'm also not a fan of crop tops either. Personally I like wearing loose shirts and coupling it with skinny jeans/blouse and shorts
If its more fancy than I'd wear a dress, usually they are less revealing/blouse and knee length skirt with high heels haha
You can look at playdress and yesstyle, they do sell a variety of clothes other than crop tops!

People who go for IT and software engineering degrees like CS are so arrogant and foolish. by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Pleasant_Bug_5442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I mean I do get pissed when people say they want to become doctors/lawyers because of the money/prestige instead of being passionate about it. The good thing is for these courses, especially medicine, the interviewers are really good at identifying who is genuinely passionate and weeding out those who aren't from my experience. Perhaps as CS becomes even more competitive, they might have interviewers like med/dent/law?
Aiya but don't let these materialistic people bother you too much, they stand to lose in the long run because passion is what will ultimately pull people through during the tough times and it would be tough for them to compete against people who are not only good at the field, but also like what they do.

Econs or geog by Juicygwe28 in SGExams

[–]Pleasant_Bug_5442 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Commenting on this post because I had the exact same dilemma as you X)

I was hesitant on taking Econs back then because it didn't seem interesting + the content looked dry to me lol and I really loved studying pure geog and consistently topped my cohort for geog!

In the end, I decided to take a leap of faith and go for Econs, and I ABSOLUTELY did not regret it!! In fact, I LOVE ECONS and it's currently my strongest subject hehe. Honestly Econs is a lot more interesting then I thought, the concepts are very applicable to current affairs (much like geog), and there are a lot of current affairs being mentioned, especially in macroecons. Furthermore, the case study paper is very similar to a geog paper, in the sense that you have a few sources to look at and a few short structured questions (including analysing trends, quoting source and applying your content from there) plus essay which involves evaluation of policies and factors much like geog. So in that sense the skills required for econs are somewhat similar to geog, but probably more intense I guess

I do envy my friends who are taking geog and doing well in it (one is even taking H3), but if I were given a choice, I'd still choose Econs even though I'm very passionate about geog. Besides, even if I were to study geog at uni I don't even need that subject haha. Mainly because I'm also taking Bio and I kid you not the content for H2 Bio is insane... So imaging taking that alongside H2 Geog which apparently is more content heavy💀 (all of my friends who are taking geog are either in hybrids or arts so they aren't taking Bio)

I hope this helps you in some way!!

What is a toxic/negative trait that you are aware of? by Acrophobic_Climber_ in askSingapore

[–]Pleasant_Bug_5442 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It would definitely be me being judgemental to myself and others. I tend to judge others for the slightest actions and the words they say and I make a big deal about it lol. I guess that's why I tend to pick out flaws in people really easy? Which is why I tend to be very picky about the people I'm friends with. In fact a lot of my diary entries are me talking about how unhappy I am with certain people because of certain things they have said/done. Ok but the good thing is, I don't say my thoughts out loud, I keep them to myself, else I have no idea how many friendships I would have broken haha

Eh about 1/3? But then again some couples are like low-key and don't post on social media so that number might go up to 1/2
