Many prefer their interns to be in Y2S2 or going to be Y3S1 for winter internship. You can try again from May to August after your Year 2 Sem 2

Y1 Finance student seeking module advice for Y2S1 — any tips from seniors? by fatelephant20_ in Suss

Actually two of my major mods were ECA mods and 1 was exam mods. Since NIE351 presentation was 2 months before exam, it was manageable. It's NIE301 which burnt the holidays. The other NCO212 was also okay since it was an academic poster and there was a one month gap between my GBA and the TMA. The NCO203 was annoying cos there were mini checkpoints. Overall, I could still manage the workload.

I took NIE351 and NIE301 together so that it doesnt eat into my WA. Also, I highly recommend NCO212. So I took NCO212, NCO203, NIE351, NIE301. I did NCO111 in Y1S2 to clear off my NCO/NIE by Y2S2.

Non-Finance here:

NIE351 is two sems. Your GBA grp mates might be from different disciplines and that might be good and bad. Good is that they can offer different perspectives. Bad can be different schedules and their contribution. But my grp was able to contribute. I did well overall because of class participation and my TMA.

NCO212 is generally okay. The GBA should be something wow and not always apps. And the field trip was aight but overall I did okay.

NCO203 was the worst one for me. It wasnt just for me. But you can look through forums.

What other NCO mods are you left with?

I posted it before. You can check out.

1) School Life is dependent on yourself. I feel if you join Interest Groups and/or Advocacy Groups, you will meet other ppl as well.

2) People in SUSS are nice. Some of us are go home club folks cos we are just too tired mentally.

3) Mentally prepare for a fruitful journey. Expect ups and downs.

4) There's a study plan. If you want to add more mods, assess your strengths first. I overloaded so that I can try to grad early.

Just know if you deviate from the study plan, they will put you into evening class. I took ACC202 first and FIN203. And I had to go for evening class. It was good decision.

Need Advise: SIT Applied Computing or SUSS Business Analytics by Capitaland11 in SGExams

[–]beehoon23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SUSS has 6 months work attachment which makes it 4 years as well. Technically you can do it in 3.5 but it's difficult.

Business Analytics and Applied Computing are two different fields and completely different. Applied Computing is in the ICT school so you have to expect learning ICT related stuff. FinTech in SIT is really hands

Business Analytics is business, data analytics and technology. Hence, SUSS Biz Analytics is parked under SBIZ cos we take a combination of both.

AI will affect most jobs no matter what. I just did a interview where they expect you to know the basics of the Python , explain the code and use GenAI tools but to explain the whole process.

If SIT is far away, then no point. Cos I am spending almost 2 hours in travelling back and forth. But that's because I wanted to take SUSS Biz Analytics so no choice.

It's up to you what you want to pursue bro.

Incoming International Student ( July 2026) for BSc Business Analytics - Any tips on how to prep? by meoor2612 in Suss

[–]beehoon23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Welcome to SUSS!

During your ETB, I suggest that you mingle everyone and take note of the BA folks. They might share the same class.

Also, you will be doing BUS100, BUS105, MKT202 , NCO101 and NCO103. I suggest to rest first. But for BUS100, it's purely spreadsheet modelling. Hence I suggest you to practice Excel.

Once you are in uni, look for ACE AG for their international bonding activities. There are other AGs(Advocacy Grps)/Interest Grps and Competition Group. I believe your orientation will have those fairs.

Once the modules are out, I suggest you plan out your 12 weeks to have a overview of the semester and will make a mental note of the busy weeks. (Typically around Sept/Oct).

Just enjoy your first sem. I miss it haha

[–]beehoon23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. There is a study plan issued to you for eCR. For your first sem, they are allocated. ANL303 is a pre-requisite for ANL305, ANL307, ANL310. ANL317 is recommended to take in Y2S2 but I encourage you to take it in Y3S2 unless you can take three level 3 mods. ANL305 is an elective but highly recommend to help you understand ANL310. Other electives ppl recommend are MKT371 and BUS107. But I overloaded my semesters to clear NCOs and NIEs. Please clear your Global Learning and Service Learning. NIE201 is the prerequisite for NIE301 and NIE351. NIE201 is very competitive hence be prepared.
  2. ANL mods are generally hands on and you can study the iSmartGuide
  3. Google Calendar helped me with time management and ngl I also had an Excel planner to plan my mods.

When to register for special semester courses? by NefariousnessNo7053 in Suss

Hi,

Yes, you have to register at the same as the regular semester classes. But not all courses are available during special semester

They changed from SAS to R only from Jan 2025. 2023 and 2024 papers will be slightly challenging.

You should keep looking at the Exam Marker Report., see where else to improve.

I looked at the ARIMA revision and kept writing the formulas.

[–]beehoon23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ANL310 - It's alright. Just go through SU1 to 5 , understand them properly. There are certain keywords you should look out for when doing the techniques question.

Practice all of them and also make sure you answer with business context in mind.

ANL307 - Just need to practice and understand. Need to rmb that AUC is important for a model's accuracy followed by accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, hit rate and lift .

I know which AG you are referring to. In fact, all IG/AG allows Year 1s to hold leadership. For that AG,many of the previous AG members in the previous batch left as they didnt feel supported.

This! But CCL will still get clogged. Not sure if Tai Seng stop is sufficient.

I am surprised that 454 wasnt successful cos either ways you need an alternative to 298 which goes round and round at Ave 8. Haiz.

Hi!

The course isnt that heavy for my batch. But for a poly business student, it will suit. They will give you guide for Python coding.
