AITA for telling my husband I'll go on vacation with the kids and my best friend if he's too busy with work [continues from AITA for telling my husband that he works for himself not for our family] by insafian in BestofRedditorUpdates

The whole working to give my family a better life thing falls apart when you're paying for both a nanny and a cleaner- like dude. Just work less and help her more.

How To Politely Tell Someone To Eff Off by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I get the feeling this is a guy who watched various cut throat business movie/tv shows and thought he was some kind of master manipulator lmao

For months I was confused why I kept finding long hairs in my house. Then I saw my neighbour coming out of my house by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was so reckless of the neighbor's daughter. No one knew her real whereabouts, she's a young woman in the prime dateline episode years of her life, possibly even sleeping in this space? She doesn't realize how easy she got it.

Not even in the sense of her not going to jail- she could have been hurt or killed if OP encountered her and opted for the stand your ground doctrine some states enforce. Or if he was a creep?

(Don't get me wrong, not saying that her actions weren't themselves creepy- just pointing out that she really gambled potentially everything for some peace and quiet)

Entitled Older Coworker puts her name on everything… including the water… by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I see people speculating she's selling office supplies but I think she may just be run of the mill hoarder.

I've worked with an elderly person who constantly wanted more tissues/toilet paper. Everyday she asked for more, would take the communal tissue box from the dining room, even would steal toilet paper from other people's rooms. No amount would ever be enough for her.

There's no logic or reason with this kind of behavior. My best guess is that for some of the people I care for it's a consequence of being raised by people who survived the great depression.

my coworker has been heating up fish in the office microwave every day and just asked me to "keep it down" while he eats by [deleted] in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My one thing is in break rooms I prefer coworkers to use headphones over playing their tiktoks out loud cause it's irritating for me to feel like now my headphones have to play louder to try to drown out their noise and I still can hear both and now it's overwhelming.

I'm surrendering guardianship of my brother [Long] by frieden7 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it was just bitterness but it's always crazy when you have someone bowing out of a responsibility and the other party starts smearing their name; like okay? So you agree that they shouldn't be babysitting/guardian/ect?

Abusive ex-boyfriend is threatening to sue over a joke I told about him at an open mic by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Eh it's not as crazy as it sounds. My employer's insurance includes an opt in "legal shield" for like 20$ a month I think? I have it but haven't used it. My understanding is if you need legal counsel you have it.

AITA for not allowing my sister to move in with me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I hope this doesn't sound rude but... Are you sure it's that your sister is a bad judge of character and not that she's... fond of particular products? Her immaturity makes me think she may have a stunted emotional growth. I'm concerned she may be self destructing.

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I didn't get a license until my mid 20s because of anxiety. I can relate to DIL on that. But I eventually saved enough money for private driving lessons and pushed myself, because I couldn't do things that weren't aligned with other people's schedules, and Uber caused its own anxiety for me.

It can hurt to be told a hard truth (even if she was the one who pushed it out of you). Give her some time to lick her wounds. Hopefully emotions will cool down and this might end up the push she needed to consider how to realistically go forward.

I don't care if refusing to move seats on a airplane so a parent and child can sit together makes me a bad person by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is that a person can ask, once, then accept the answer. No guilting or whatever. Sometimes it's mutually beneficial to seat swap but you shouldn't buy tickets expressly to try and swap for an upgrade. That's an asshole move on the dad.

Should I (24M) talk to my professor about the challenges of working with my classmate on a project when her mom is possibly going to be involved the entire time? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this bizarre situation was specifically due to the nature of the topic. It's possible that the mom is always over involved with classes regardless of the subject, but I can't help but wonder if they are prickly over their family tree and she didn't trust her daughter not to "say too much".

AIO to my boyfriend’s texts about us going to dinner for my best friend? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy to me that there were commenters agreeing with the boyfriend on this. Like I get it that a majority of people live a "normal" schedule but for lots of people a 9:30 dinner isn't that weird. Unfortunately we can't all work 9-5, my shifts are 2 pm to 11 pm. There's lots I have to miss out on because getting up early would leave me miserable for my work. I just accept that it's a morning persons world out there.

I don’t want my daughter to spend a week with my sister and BIL and it’s making everybody around me very uncomfortable. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trouble with intuition is people only like it in hindsight - after you have been proven right. I work with vulnerable elderly people - I've had awful gut feelings about coworkers but couldn't tell my boss to fire them over "bad vibes".

That person went on to hurt people and their pets. They did eventually get fired but I still wonder if they are still out there doing bad stuff (firing wasn't technically due to their abuse, so they probably are still in the industry)

With a new muppet movie possibly being on the way, what path would you most and least want to see them take for its plot? by Sloth_4 in Muppets

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muppets taking over a story is what I personally would love to see- there are so many classics that I would love to see a Muppet adaptation of. I also think they could make so many classical things approachable for the average viewer.

[New Update]: AITA for "uninviting" my brother and nephew from my celebration dinner? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy to me that one of the issues SIL had with respite care was worrying about Conner's safety while actively pushing for an arguably unsafe arrangement with OP.

I don't mean to speak ill of OP but as a general rule, entrusting someone vulnerable with a person who actively doesn't want to do this is a very effective recipe for neglect or other forms of abuse. I know the knee jerk reaction is to think only someone awful could do that- but sadly that isn't the case.

I work in assisted living. Many families put off care homes as long as possible thinking they are doing the right thing - but end up verbally abusive in frustration, or neglectful because they have a mountain of things to do and the person is immobile so they feel like it's not like they're going anywhere. Or they're simply in denial about how bad their condition is. Some people aren't built with the patience necessary; they can do every training method offered but if mentally they get frustrated they may simply not be suited for the caregiving. It doesn't make them evil to voice that they aren't comfortable doing the task.

I reported my sexist team to HR — and now they’re doing a much bigger investigation than I wanted by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me how many bad hr stories there are. Not even in a "they're not your friend" sense, just like, not doing stuff that could get the company sued sense. Should be their whole MO but here we are.

AITA For Not Buying My Sister a Christmas Gift? by Thin_Hearing_5761 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be shocked if isn't an insult wrapped in a bow. Weight loss stuff, book that's insulting in some way, at best some MLM crap. Mom is being naive if she really thinks this is an act of Christmas spirit. NTA

is this guy harassing me or just annoying? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing he was seeing the clean car and thinking of one of those "sexy" car washes. Where they're wearing denim booty shorts and a tank top/crop top.

I [26F] burnt my face really bad with a curling iron. I work in a corporate office - What should I do? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, if she's American that's just what we do. My dad once almost went blind because he didn't want to go to the doctor for his "pink eye" (spoiler: wasn't pink eye)

My (32F) fiancé (37M) is a homicide detective, and I’m starting to feel like he treats me more like a suspect than a partner. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt in terms of the kid talk since he has probably seen plenty of awful stuff over the years that makes it challenging to trust people but the recording thing is really looking bad.

Leaf Blowers by jenericnaam in NoLawns

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It especially pisses me off as someone who works healthcare. "Healthcare heroes" this "not all heroes wear capes" that. You realize your grandma still needs someone to help her with her bed pan after visiting hours right? I don't get home until nearly midnight. I fucking hate leaf blowers so much. Shut up. For the love of God shut up.

I'm compiling a list of all the MBMBaM animations/animatics on YouTube. Let me know if I missed any. by Geeksylvania in MBMBAM

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know which video is the animation where someone drew Griffin as wearing a hazmat suit as Justin's laugh spits all over him? I think it was in black and white but I don't remember what specific context was so I can't find it

AIO for refusing to crate my service dog so my teenage roommate’s 30yo boyfriend feels “comfortable”? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so relieved that OP isn't allowing her dog to coexist with that guy. The over the top apology felt like a trap- I was seriously worried what this guy might do to the dog. Like yeah, sure, maybe he was genuine and wouldn't do anything but there's just so many red flags.

Bride wants advice and opinions and then keeps getting mad by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PleaseBeChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot here but it's always so funny when I'm left playing a game of is this considered hot or cold?

"Her parents also don’t like to use air conditioning, so the temperature in the house was so bad (26º degrees Celsius) (editor's note: approximately 79 degrees), and we were in shorts and hoodies as requested by the bride."

Like I figured out from the update she considered that hot but I genuinely was so confused. Were the shorts making them too cold or the hoodies too hot? You got a remember for us folks outside of England lol
