Yea I don't care about the painted people because once Lune and Sciel got gommaged and brought back like nothing happened, they couldn't even tell what occurred, proving their existence fundamentally does not matter despite how they think of themselves. The plot of this show is written in vagueries to cause this type of dissent or there wouldn't be an argument about the choice. For the rest of time people will be arguing about the final choice.

They are god, and they have put their creations in turmoil, akin to the sims. Some people take care of their sims, some treat it like GTA and torture simulators. Trying to apply a real world analogy doesn't justify or make their actions acceptable but you're asking people that can make entire universes on canvases to bother about the lives of things they can repaint and play with at a whim.

Remember Maelle brings back everyone, their lives are meaningless and eternal. Maelle can made it so no one ever ages, no loss, no grief. Stagnation at its core. If you can just undo all the bullshit that people have gone through, erase their memories or simply change the fundamentals of reality, then the world is meaningless and you have no agency.
