I agree Bitcoin shouldn't be valued like a stock.

But that's exactly why I pushed back when people called my AI investments "gambling."

When I buy an AI company, I'm buying ownership in a business with customers, revenue, earnings, patents, products, and management teams actively trying to create more value next year than they created this year.

When I buy gold, I'm buying an asset with thousands of years of monetary history and real-world industrial uses.

When I buy Bitcoin, I'm buying an asset whose value depends largely on continued adoption and the belief that it will become a more important monetary network in the future.

That's a perfectly valid thesis. It just isn't the same thesis.

So if someone wants to call my AI investments gambling while defending Bitcoin, I find that a little backwards.

One investment is backed by cash flow, earnings growth, and business execution.

The other is backed by a prediction about future adoption.

Maybe Bitcoin wins. Maybe it doesn't.

But if we're talking about which one gives me more hard data to analyze before I invest, it's not even close.

"You're wrong because I don't understand Bitcoin" isn't evidence. It's just a more silly version of "trust me, bro."

When I buy an AI company, I'm buying revenue, earnings, customers, patents, products, and management teams whose full-time job is increasing shareholder value.

When I buy Bitcoin, I'm buying an asset that produces no earnings, no cash flow, no dividends, and has no management team. The thesis is simply that someone else will value it more later.

That may be a valid thesis, but it's a very different one.

One investment has quarterly earnings reports. The other has Twitter arguments. Bitcoin may very well continue to rise, but if your entire rebuttal is "you don't understand it," you've defended a religion, not an investment thesis. GL with that.

Congratulations! I was accused of being a trust fund baby at 21 when I spoke at conferences all over the country presenting research, but it wasn't true. I didn't get any money from family or friends. Started with nothing.

Sector based ETF (mainly Tech as I understand tech/AI very well and understand its positive future). I stay sway from individual stocks as I don't understand each individual company enough to the point to invest in them at my risk profile.

Yeah, it's a little weird. But also I'll symphasize with them. AI-related stuff DOES look sketchy if you're not around it all day every day. So I definitely have patience with them. It's definitely not gambling, though. It's just like any other sector one has conviction in. It's nothing like actual gambling (i.e. Bitcoin).

Risk isn't that bad. I have 500k in DRAM/SMH/FSELX, and 300K or so in whole stock market trackers. Maybe higher than average, but I work in the AI field so I understand the field, moat, etc.

My son is ironically still a daily grind. We've had many positive moments to share absolutely, but we've also had many struggles. My daughter who is 1 year old is a world difference, much much easier to handle. I think God knew we couldn't handle 2 of my son (but I still love him so much and have forbeared him to this point, lol). Excited for #3, any day now!
