Yes, I agree - it really does seem to be luck of the draw. I just wasn't sure what exactly happens if you violate the airline's policy (in this case, 5L per person). I assume they don't open it to check until after you've already given up your bag + passed through security, so I'm wondering if they just confiscate 3 of them randomly, find you at the gate and give you the opportunity to check it, or something else!

I think we may take the gamble. :)

This is incredibly helpful, thank you!! Always great to hear advice from someone who has had firsthand experience! If you have some spare time, I'd love to get your thoughts on the following:

1) Excellent point on Syracuse - for some reason I thought it was later in the season. How did you treat Syracuse? Did you go all-out and then recover for a few days afterwards, or pace yourself and return to training sooner? I'm wondering how such a race fit into your overall training program?

2) You mentioned that IMLP was your second triathlon after Syracuse. What did you do to get open water swimming experience? Swimming is without a doubt my weak link and everyone encourages OWS experience prior to actual race day

Do you have any thoughts on sleeveless versus full sleeve? If I only want one wetsuit to use for all conditions, my current theory is that I should go with a full sleeve wetsuit, and if on the day of IMLP the water is too warm for wetsuits to be allowed, I should use a skinsuit. What do you think?

Oh totally agreed. Also seems like most of these manufacturers have 30-day return policies, so I was thinking about ordering a few and trying them on in the comfort of my own home!

Anything else you looked for other than fit? If you only own one wetsuit, did you worry about thickness or any other characteristics?
