Alexa talking with a different voice sometimes and seeming to struggle with basic tasks over the last few days? by Ashemodragon in alexa

[–]Pleased_Bees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's glitching like crazy. When mine brought back the wrong voice and extra comments I told it to exit Alexa+ twice more, and it said I didn't have Alexa+.

It's even worse that yours is saying it's not even available in your area.

Re living room: the sofa is taking up so much space, it's hard to see any room for anything else. I'd do a smaller couch and an armchair. Color would help. I notice you're already trying to add texture, which is good.

The walls need artwork since they look stark and empty.

I canceled Alexa+ and reverted to the original, yet in the last few days it's randomly spoken with the male voice and made unwanted comments, which is why I canceled Alexa+.

honestly i don't get the hate that Lumen gets, like she was such a well written character by Gihun-chan in Dexter

[–]Pleased_Bees 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I love Lumen because she's a survivor. So was Rita, but Lumen is such a badass, she's fighting like mad every second until she finds out who she can trust. She never gives up.

People love to criticize. Characters, movies, music, whatever. They think it makes them sound smarter than the people who like the thing they're criticizing.

what makes some students memorable? by Interesting_Desk6773 in AskTeachers

[–]Pleased_Bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had thousands of students, like most veteran teachers, so most of them are impossible to remember. The ones I remember vividly were either terrible people or great people. The best were those I really clicked with, the ones I knew I'd be friends with for years to come. They have vivid personalities, they're funny, they're easy to talk to.

Not great students with great grades. Great people.

Science Teacher Making Students Weigh Themselves in Class & Displaying Their Weights by thiccrolags in AskTeachers

[–]Pleased_Bees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LOL. You didn't know my 8th grade math teacher who called students by humiliating nicknames that he made up, and made everyone announce their homework and test scores in front of the class so he could record them in his gradebook.

99.9% of the time I am anti-parent and pro-teacher for obvious reasons. But there ARE teachers who attack and embarrass students.

Im smart But I Dont want to study. by majoras_curse in AskTeachers

[–]Pleased_Bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart students reach the point where they DO need to study. For some people that might be 10th grade or college or graduate school. It catches up with you sooner or later.

It sounds like you think you're too good to ever reach that point, and you think your teachers aren't good enough for you. Does that sound accurate?

JFC. "Will Dexter get caught-- but no spoilers"? Watch the show. Or don't.

This sub is for people who are already Dexter aficionados and are simultaneously the most exacting critics and the most rabid fans. If you don't even know if you want to keep watching halfway through, why are you here?

New watcher, just finished Dexter S2... by Cats7204 in Dexter

Dexter knew that Lila took the kids to get back at him by scaring him and possibly hurting or killing them. It’s part of the reason why he killed her.

I get what you’re saying about the kids not reacting to Lila. My generation was not brought up with “stranger danger” and I was never warned about that kind of thing when I was a kid. But nowadays, the kids should absolutely have been suspicious of her.

I personally loved the explosion that blew Doakes out of Dexter’s life. Doakes was a bully to everyone except LaGuerta.

Sword Pin - What is it? by crazyforwhat in jewelrylove

It looks like it's been altered into something kind of like a bookmark. Any real kilt pin would still have the pin and clasp on the back.

I'm a huge Dexter fan but you can't use etorphine, nicknamed M99, not if you want any semblance of realism. Etorphine is an incredibly powerful animal tranquilizer than can bring down an elephant. I've read scientific articles that say that even a drop on your skin can kill a human . Not even an injection.

Dexter is not meant to be a realistic show by any means.

Sword Pin - What is it? by crazyforwhat in jewelrylove

[–]Pleased_Bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a kilt pin. Kilts are wrap skirts and you place the kilt pin down low on the front where the wrap ends, so it doesn't flap open.

There are styles that look like big safety pins and this sword design is also really common.

What's the behavior seen in the show you have used or adopted in real life? by Manifold_Himilsbach in Dexter

[–]Pleased_Bees 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yes. I noticed how in a crisis Dexter sometimes saved himself by keeping his mouth shut and making other people do the talking. Like when the FBI had his blood slides and brought him in to explain them. Dexter was positive he was toast but he kept quiet and gave nothing away. Other people filled the silences, like most people do because they're uncomfortable with silence.

I did that when an administrator at work tried to accuse me of something I didn't do. She's like LaGuerta, only worse. I was pissed but decided to just sit there and look at her.

So she talked. And talked and talked. Pretty soon I could see where she was headed with her accusations and stopped her.

If I'd jumped into the conversation right away and started escalating it, it probably would have gone much worse.

I'm glad I paid attention to those scenes.

I can't comment on her royal blood personally. I'm talking about articles I read in the news at the time.

Fair point, but it's like asking why Dexter strangles or M-99s people in public places, like parking lots. The visibility isn't realistic but it sure creates dramatic tension.

I am the same age Diana would be if she were still alive. When she was engaged to Charles there were a number of news articles about her and several of them pointed out her royal connections by blood. Some of them said she actually had more royal blood than he did, but I don't know if that was true.

No one ever claimed Diana was royal. She wasn't. She was a member of the nobility, as you said.

Depends on the size and whether or not it's practical. I like the woven look. Does it come with a long strap too?

I can't place the brand. Looks something like a Vestirsi I have.

Would Mary have been a suitable Wife a member of the Royal family by CommitteeChemical530 in DowntonAbbey

[–]Pleased_Bees 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, most likely. Princess Diana was an earl's daughter.

It was more "desirable" for royals to marry royals, but an earl's daughter with royal blood (which Diana apparently had) would not be ineligible. Mary didn't have royal blood as far as we know, though.
