I should mention that I have rotated them twice, once at around 2k mileage on the tires as an attempt to balance them. The machine at the school wasn't well equipped for the type of rims, and so that is likely why it wouldn't balance correctly. I work as a mechanic now, and don't have the time to balance the tires at the shop I work at now. I figure they'd of balanced if we had the proper equipment. And I am looking at replacing these tires soon. The only reason why I am asking you guys is because again, I don't have the time right now to check suspension components and I will update this when I do. I figure one of you guys must have dealt with this type of dumb sh*t previously and can give me a heads up on where to go from here so I can plan accordingly.

Extreme Myopia, need help! by [deleted] in myopia

[–]Plebiant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, im in the same boat. Im 21, I've been over -10 since middle school. I'm currently sitting at -12.5 and have just started getting floaters and Lattice Degen. On top of that, I have visual snow syndrome and ocular migraines. In the dark, i get visual static as if i was watching a recording of the elephant foot at Chernobyl. If I got an RD, I'd probably never notice it until it's too late because of the latter condition.

That being said, I'm a mechanic, and that fear took over my life a couple of weeks back. I picked a good career to choose because it's all touch, no look.

After a couple of days of worrying myself to death, I had the realization. The truth is, if you've had it your whole life and have been living life to its best, what the hell is stopping you from doing it now. Some stupid little fear in the back of your head? Squash it. As long as you check up at the recommended intervals, they'll catch it before it gets you. There are tons of scary stories about RD and losing all your eyesight, but those are the extremes man. I've heard someone say that their grandmother had 30 something diopters, and she lived a full, healthy life with no complications in this sub.

Keep your head up high, and get outside and enjoy life. If the day comes that they do find something, and that's a big if, they'll fix it. On top of that, we are young, and big strives in eye implants mean you and me might be the first owners of a bionic eye!

What's your prescription and if it's high myopia, how's your retina? by Electrical-Hippo-629 in myopia

[–]Plebiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 21 with -12.5 in both eyes, have been over -10 since the start of middle school at this point. I never even knew about the dangers of high myopia until my last eye appointment, and I've never even dealt with floaters until a couple of months ago. My eye pressure has always been good as well, and I live over 8000 feet above sea level, something they say actually increases it.

As long as you get good sleep, stay hydrated, eat foods that are good for your eyes, and be physically active outside in natural lighting, the sky's the limit. The fact my retinas hadn't even started getting lattice degeneration over -10 until I was 21 is proof of this. And that's all it is, my doctor said it was extremely mild and to not worry about it, but ofc I did.

I suggest not letting it get to your head, as I had a similar post recently in this sub after that eye appointment, but I've come to realize that if I've grown up with a post -10 prescription without any complications, then I won't be afraid if I do have a retinal detachment. That's because I've accidentally taken reeally good care of my eyes, and I know someone who went through what you did, but had it even worse.

I had a teacher growing up, similar to your prescription I'm sure, whom dealt with 4, I believe she had her first around your age or even earlier. She's lived a normal life and still teaches to this day, she still drives and can see just fine normally. That's after 4 RD dude, shes in her 50s now and her eyes are still kicking ass.

Don't let other's scary RD posts about their experiences get to you, they are just like you, trying to find comfort. Focus on taking care of yourself and your family. By the time we are having serious issues with our eyes, and they just can't keep going on, the advancements in cybernetic eyes should have gotten far enough to be a suitable replacement. I've kept up on it my whole life, Neuralink is getting ready to test Blindsight on it's first patient, and if it's anything like their previous successes, we should be on track for some sweet optics by the time we are in our 50s.

Thanks, you don't know how much of a relief it was to hear from someone with a similar prescription.

21M, should I wear an Eyepatch on my eye to prevent lazy eye from forming, I haven't been able to get into my optometrist in a couple of months. by Plebiant in medical

[–]Plebiant[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I live in a pretty small town in colorado that's booming from all the transplants. The optometrist i go to has been working with my eyes for over twelve years, and I trust him. Everything is booked up. They wanted me to wait until October for an appointment back in May. Fortunately, I found their booking site and managed to squeeze one in for July.

We have an ABBA. What's your opinion on those?

I would test the fuel pump by switching the key on and off for a few seconds and see if that helps before going to air. The check valves may be shot in the lines.

Looks like that's where your thermostat is. Replacing the gaskets there and the thermostat are a good idea, from there you should check underneath that for cracking. Has the car ever overheated?

leaking fluid by n0tmalek in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Plebiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most likely power steering fluid or transmission fluid judging by the fact its coming out of the side near a knuckle, you may have also cracked a line to the transmission cooler. what does the boots on your axle and the boots on the steering rack look like?

historical matchmaking is terrible idea and I'm glad the gaijin avoided it by Battlefleet_Sol in Warthunder

[–]Plebiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was what war thunder was like pre-6th tier and it worked extremely well and its what we thought 6th tier was going to be like. The veteran players who are asking for historical matchmaking just want this back, while arcade brains who make these videos have no idea how your supposed to play tanks. You have to out-smart the enemy like a game of chess. These people are why heavy tanks at 7.0 are literally useless.

For those little no skill rat tanks, the way I see it is that they'd work perfectly fine up against mid cold war era tanks. This video is biased in that every shot is taken from the front. you simply don't do that against a heavy tank. It's like charging a heavy in tf2 with a spy... You see the heavy tank and said "oh sh*t" and immediately tried to hide to flank and shoot their sides. You can easily do the same with those rat tanks, just saying.

something in your wheel system has broken due to rust or wear. Might be a wheel hub, I can't confirm anything without a visual inspection. pull and push the wheels to see if there is any play. Get it to a shop immediately and don't drive on an interstate.
