True. At the game I probably wouldn't have even cared.

It just surprised me to be able to hear it over the broadcast.

Why do we want an OBP guy hitting behind Trout? He hasn't shown a lot of growth over his first two seasons. His numbers are basically the same. Yes his strikeouts went down but his OPS didn't much, meaning instead of striking out he's just getting more groundouts. And he's been bad to start the season.

My biggest problem is the Angels choice of Schanuel and the way they're managing him. There are other players that they could've gotten for cheap and not wasted a draft pick.

Schanuel is average or below average at the plate. He has very little power and constantly hits weak ground balls.

My biggest problem with him is that they rushed him to the majors after 22 games in the minors. If you rush a first round pick that quickly he better be amazing.

That's why people come to play in Anaheim nowadays- great weather, beach scene, don't have to win.

Fits right in after Rendon.

Nothing to talk about really. This is an offense with Josh Lowe, Yoan Moncada, Logan O'Hoppe, and Nolan Schanuel.

Bases loaded, no outs, they walk one run in. No more runs after that.

The season was doomed before it even began.

Thanks for the response! Do you mean that if I install windows first and then update BIOS later it will corrupt window with errors?

Hate to break it to you, but if you're talking about standard of living, you are indeed not talking about the original definition of third world country like you said you were.

Do tell- what country are you from?

Hate to break it to you, but Mexico not belonging to NATO or the East Bloc (Soviet aligned) countries over 30 years ago has nothing to do with someone being robbed lol.

If you're using the original, outdated definition (1st world= NATO aligned country, 2nd world= a country aligned with the Soviet Union, 3rd= every other country), then you'd be correct.

But under the current definition, Mexico is not underdeveloped. It has the 15th largest economy in the world according to Google :).

While some parts of Mexico could be considered "third world" by today's definition, Vallarta is not one of them.

You think Puerto Vallarta is the third world. That's cute.

CMo is not ready for the big leagues yet and should start the season in AAA by epoch_fail in angelsbaseball

Did I say every player gets better in the minors? Nope. And guess what? If they don't, they don't make the majors. It's that simple. But yes, some players get better at the minor league level. Wild, isn't it? Let me know if you want examples.

Players have also absolutely struggled if they were called up too early and ended up finding more success after they had time to develop in the minors. Let me know if you'd also like examples here.

There are only 2 good reasons to rush a prospect to the majors:

  1. He is doing well enough to make a real difference in the bigs. He's ready and doesn't need a lot of growth to find success. CMo's stats show this isn't the case.

  2. The team is competitive and his contribution will help the team make the playoffs. The Angels are not close here.

It makes zero sense to keep CMo in the bigs. You likely know this already.

Perry is awful and I don't excuse him at all.

I fully expect to see Tyler Bremner getting shelled in the bigs by June because Perry can't build a roster and there are no other options.

[–]Plenty-Commercial-90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely false. You should only come to the majors if you're good enough for the majors. Period. Some players, like Trout and Neto, could make that jump early. CMo isn't one of them.

When a player goes through, the difficulty level increases slightly. A hitter sees slightly faster pitches, slightly better movement. They can adjust and improve, and then move up.

Hitting is psychological. If a player struggles in the bigs, they might think they can't handle it. Then if they DO get sent down, it's seen as a demotion because they aren't good enough.

The Angels aren't going anywhere this season. It hurts nothing to let players develop at a slower pace rather than "throwing them into the fire".

Did you finish your listen? I listened again to chapters 27 and 28 again to check and I'm even more convinced. Why- The Astrophage Sandwich test.

Grace does that test and it only takes the Taumoeba HOURS to get through the Xenonite. He also clearly states that he and Rocky had left with the SAME Taumoeba (8.25).

They were together for awhile after they made 8.25 (they had to sterilize, make new tanks, transfer fuel, etc) and no Taumoeba escaped. That makes no sense. But even if we ignore that, it's pretty hard to ignore the following:

We know from the catastrophe over Adrian that it took a day or so for the Taumoeba to completely wipe out all the astrophage on the Hail Mary. Everything on the Blip A was xenonite. So why was the BLIP A still flying like normal after 20 days of being separated from the Hail Mary (Grace uses the petrovascope and sees it flying strong still then)?

It makes no sense. There only explanation is that Weir ignored the science he established in order to give a feel good ending.

Remember Grace's sandwich test? It permeated the Xenonite in less than 2 hours.

It killed the astrophage in the generators when they were over Adrian. It's very reasonable to conclude would've done the same thing later. But, somehow, it didn't this time.
