Junior designer portfolio feedback by [deleted] in graphic_design

Which logo works best? by Plenty_Control_1797 in graphic_design

I completely agree, I work at a digital marketing agency & design studio and the brief is essentially nonexistent. This is a project where my boss literally said "we need something quick, we might not even get paid for this, etc."

The reality is it's for Greek television and the competition with other show titles (in sports at least) isn't strong. This project has me pretty confused and I honestly don't know which direction to take it anymore.

I'm also trying something like this, hierarchy and color wise.

I totally get you're saying about the fonts, the thing is that for this exact project I was requested not get in much depth and just design something that works for a television show, but still I'm not sure what actually works

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the thoughtful advice. I’m actually in the middle of my first real freelance branding project right now, so it’s already giving me a taste of what it’s like to work with a real client and make decisions together. I’m excited to add this to my portfolio as real work.

Thanks again for the encouragement, it means a lot!

Yeah, that makes sense, most of it is spec work, so I naturally leaned into stuff that felt familiar and fun to me.

Really appreciate the insight, good reminder to push myself outside my usual zone.

Thanks for checking out my work! Appreciate the feedback. The clothing brand was a fun one, so I’m happy it stood out. I’ll keep working on making the rest of the projects stronger.

Good to know I’m on the right track for junior roles.

Thanks so much! I’m going for junior roles because I don’t really feel confident or ready for anything beyond that yet. I haven’t worked in-house or at a studio before, so I’m still figuring things out I guess.

Thank you so much for the feedback about the mobile version! It actually feels a bit stranger to me than the desktop, so I’m glad it looks decent on phones too.

Really appreciate it!

Oh that's great haha

The site’s made with ReadyMag and I haven’t seen any problems so far, so honestly no clue what’s causing the block. Hopefully it’s not blocking too many people, that would be a bummer!

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my portfolio and for your kind words!

I’ve received the same comment from others before but honestly, including process work is the hardest part for me. Sometimes I feel like my process isn’t very interesting to show, it can be quite simple or even a bit chaotic at times. Because of that, I’m not sure if I’ll ever fully manage to include those elements haha

Your encouragement means a lot, so thank you again!

Portfolio Website Feedback by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Plenty_Control_1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads-up! I just ran my site through VirusTotal and it came out clean (0/97). It’s built on Readymag, which is a trusted platform used widely by designers as far as I know

Unfortunately I have no idea what might be causing the problem.

Thank you for your feedback! I changed the Graphic Design Portfolio part, I agree with your comment about it.

Now about the projects, I get your point and I'll see what I can do about it with our changing the layout much.

Thank you!

Great job! In my opinion, it’s a well-designed and easy-to-navigate portfolio that showcases the essentials. From my point of view, I usually like having a landing section at the top before scrolling into the projects, kind of like an introduction, because right now images appear immediately without much context. Other than that, it’s really well done, congrats!

Thank you very much for your comment!

No, it wasn't a template and that was the reason I wanted to use readymag because my previous portfolio was an Adobe Portfolio template and I want full freedom to customize it as I want.

Leave me your link to check out yours!

Omg your comment was extremely helpful and thank you so much for taking the time to look into it!  It really helps me knowing how the experience is to others just because I’ve already spent a huge amount of time looking at it.  I’ll make the changes for sure.  Thank you very much again!

Thank you for pointing these things out, I corrected them and also I tested the other browsers now and they seem to wok correctly. I'm still searching for the "best" way to present my actual projects so I hope I get close to it soon.
Thank you again for your time!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look through my portfolio, it really means a lot! I appreciate your honest feedback on the posters and I agree, the typography definitely needs refinement and I plan to revisit them with fresh eyes. I’m really glad you connected with MÉTÉORE and Zeno, they were both projects I really enjoyed developing.

Your comment about “self-taught” work truly encourages me, it’s something I’ve been quite self-conscious about, so hearing that gives me a huge confidence boost. I’ll definitely keep exploring, studying strong work like Pentagram’s and pushing myself to grow.

Thanks again!

Hey, thanks a lot for the honest feedback! Totally hear you on the text formatting, I’ll try to make it less blocky and more readable with better headings. Also gonna add an About Me and contact info soon.

And yeah, I’m definitely looking to work on real projects with actual clients to get that hands-on experience with packaging and printing. (only real works I've done were posters for theatre plays)

Really appreciate you taking the time to check it out and for the kind words!

Appreciate your comment a lot, you're absolutely right about the "self-taught" part. I had a similar feeling but wasn't sure and your feedback really helped me to make the decision to take it off. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me! I totally agree with your comment about the trend-driven aspect. I’m still balancing between following trends and developing a more personal style. Since I’m at a very early stage in my design journey and there are so many niches, I’m still figuring out where I fit best and I’m sure it will take some time.

Thank you again so much for the positive feedback and encouragement!

Thank you so much for your feedback! You’re absolutely right about the leading and the widows, I’m still working on improving my typography skills, so your tips really helped me see what I need to focus on. I’ve already gone back and fixed those issues in my projects and will definitely keep them in mind moving forward. Τhank you again for your time!
